“ ‘Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place’.” (2 Chronicles 7 v 15)
Lord Jesus, here amongst us as our Father intended,
You are my hope, my peace.
And most certainly my joy above all other.
For You are my Saviour, a Brother,
You are God’s grace and favour bestowed upon us,
For You accepted the † for our salvation.
Salvation is our preparation for heaven.
You accompany us on the long journey homewards,
Making this an exciting discovery,
As You send us Your purifying, glorifying Spirit.
The Spirit of holiness devotes us to You, Lord Jesus.
“To be spiritually minded is life and peace.” (Romans 8 v 6)
It is by the Spirit we find we are
Knowing not only is this friendship esteemed,
Valued above all else, highly cherished,
Not only is this the quickest route home to heaven,
You show us the only way to go, Lord Jesus.
This way is to be conformed to Your likeness,
The daily work of the prayer uplifting, gifting Spirit.
Oh what merit You offer us from Your ways,
Your days spent here amongst us as Saviour,
The living Word of God come to inspire us.
And this is not history, although it is a mystery,
By Your Spirit, so holy, so worthy,
We become committed or re-committed to You, Lord Jesus,
To all You do and say, learned and loved as we pray and serve.
“As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” (1 Peter 4 v 10)
Lord Jesus, here amongst us,
Remain ever with us as our forever Saviour,
For the world is in dire need of God’s plan,
His plan of love, of mercy, to rescue man.
He sends You to us for this purpose.
We rejoice to become Your brothers and sisters.
Lord Jesus, work with us to work through us.
Holiness is not won in a day, but as we pray.
We pray to You, through You and with You,
For You are the sanctified, glorified Son,
The One we must totally rely and depend upon.
“Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear Your name.” (Psalm 86 v 12)
You are Christ Jesus, born to be King over us,
Your reign in glory must be our life’s true story.
We listen to and learn from our Father,
When the Spirit of prayer informs our understanding,
Our appreciation, our consecration, our veneration,
As we attempt to live in You, for the glory of God.
It is by the power of holy love we move forwards in faith,
A faith which trusts fully in the grace of God,
Who, speaking to us by means of the Spirit,
We hear say regarding Your reign, as we pray:
“ ‘For now, I have chosen and sanctified this house, that My name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.” (2 Chronicles 7 v 16)
“ ‘You shall not fail to have a Man as ruler in Israel.” (2 Chronicles 7 v 18)
What a promise, one fulfilled by the presence of the Lord Jesus, our Saviour and lifelong Companion and Friend. Truly this is so very special, a true blessing, thank You.
Hope is bound up with life having a real purpose and becoming fully meaningful. Thank You that the Lord Jesus does this for us, the result of prayer’s discovery. I ask that this becomes the experience of non-believers.
May our world be touched by the Spirit of hope. For currently in the midst of a second wave of Covid 19, many live with despondency, feeling life has run out of control. Show us otherwise, Lord.
Hope relies upon peace, and peace is found through holy love’s merciful forgiveness as won for us at the †of Christ Jesus. If we separate ourselves from Him, both hope and peace desert us.
But believers in the Lord Jesus, are a pilgrim people, intent upon making life an exciting journey, undertaken in trust and full dependency on the One who came to seek and save us.
The truth of the Lord Jesus states “ ‘Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance’.” (Mark 2 v 17)
The Lord Jesus speaks to each one of us in this, so surely good sense dictates a response from us which will be beneficial. We must draw near to the throne of mercy, as invited by the Lord Jesus and the purifying Spirit.
May the Holy Spirit conform us to the Lord Jesus’ likeness of character, His virtuous way of fruitfulness in service of each other, all for the sake of love. Thank You for helping with this when we ask.
Is this the root of the problem, that we do not pray, not at all, or not sufficiently? Why does Covid 19 seem to have gained the upper hand in claiming so many lives and impairing the quality of life?
Do we hear an echo from the past, Your voice, Lord God, seeking us out? “If My people, who are called by My name, humble themselves and pray and seek My face...’” (2 Chronicles 7 v 14) then what happens?
If we repent, resolve to do better in the future to live less selfishly, with no immorality, “Then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7 v 14)
Now that is exactly why we have received the mercy of a Saviour who is Christ the Lord, come amongst us, to lift the curse of ungodliness from us and restore the dignity of humanity.
“ ‘My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place’.” (2 Chronicles 7 v 15)
This place for us must mean in sharing the love of the Lord Jesus, for He is the Divine Healer.
I ask for a fresh outpouring of the Spirit to make a very real difference to life as He makes the love, the life, the death, the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, fully meaningful to us.
“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne,” Lord God. “Mercy and truth go before Your face. Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O LORD, in the light of Your countenance.” (Psalm 89 v 14, 15)
Life takes on an altogether different aspect, a quality not there when we are indifferent or hostile to the presence of the Lord Jesus. We rejoice in His name as Saviour.
We can say to Him “You are the glory of our strength” (based on Psalm 89 v 17) for this is our experience when living by faith in our saving Lord. Nothing is then too difficult or impossible.
Jesus is newness of life to us, praise be! The reigns of control are wrenched from satan’s grasp. There will be an answer to the current pandemic of Covid 19 awaiting discovery, if only we pray.
Why is the world in general so unbelieving? Forgive us Lord, for failing to listen to You even when You sent Your Son to be the fullest revelation of Your love and mercy.
Why are we so stubborn, refusing to believe? Why are we so hard hearted, often living for ourselves alone? It is because we fail to pray and to invite the Lord Jesus to be Lord over us.
Forgive us Father, for this catastrophe which we have brought upon ourselves by our turning away from You. Call us back, draw us back, lead us back to a sound faith, a trust put into the One who does save us from our sinfulness.
Please send the Spirit afresh to us, for He is the One who commits us to believe in and adhere to our Saviour Brother. The Spirit helps us to pray, opening up our heart and mind, will and conscience to discover or re- discover our forever Saviour.
Our world stands in dire need of this right now. We need the rescue available to us when we pray because we know we have a Saviour in the Lord Jesus and a Sanctifier in the Holy Spirit.
Holiness was not won in a day, but as we pray, Lord God, dearest Father, please ask the Holy Spirit to be the power behind our prayer, offering this in the name of the Lord Jesus, for this is the love which will never fail us.
When we need to find a boost to our confidence in Your love and mercy Father God, we must look to the †of the Lord Jesus for our answer, as prompted by the Holy Spirit of love.
“Make haste, O God, to deliver us!” (Psalm 70 v 1 changed to a plural invocation) Deliver us from all that is evil, unbelief, lack of prayer, failure to call on the Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, our immoral way of life, the Covid 19 pandemic.
“Make haste to help us, O Lord!” (Cont) “Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; and let those who love Your salvation say continually, ‘Let God be magnified!” (Psalm 70 v 4) glorified too! Amen.
