Purple, peach and taffeta pink,
Lipstick red, scarlet and crimson,
Honey yellow, butter yellow and custard,
Even a hint, tint of hot mustard.
Maroon, claret and amber,
Oh what colour in summer!
Apricot, lilac and lavender,
White and vanilla, drizzled with blackcurrant.
The essence of a dahlia border,
Is the amazing appearance of being
Too hot to handle!
What a lot of colour,
To excite and delight in!
Sumptuous, glorious, most marvellous colour,
No more concern about duller weather.
Just look at the display, array of dahlias,
And rejoice in God’s choice for this flower of colour.
O Lord, I do really rejoice in the sizzling display of dahlias. For me they are never too hot! Thank You so much. Amen.
