THE FINAL FLING

Sue O’Donnell. 01.11.20

Early in November it may be warmer weather,

Sufficient to be outside sitting relaxing,

Enjoying the final fling of an autumn garden,

Which can bring such delight, being still colourful.

How beautiful is the splendour of ginger and amber,

Offset maybe by lingering gold leaf.

If enjoying reading outside, leaves maybe gently falling,

Heralding the forthcoming of winter, like it or not!

But for now, we have got so much to be grateful for.

Possibly there is a store remaining of asters,

So beautifully colourful throughout autumn,

And often accompanied by dahlias or chrysanthemums.

Asters ae offset well by contrasting colours,

Purple and orange or pink are I think, particularly stunning,

And sedum are an excellent addition to any autumn garden.

Whereas these species have flowered and flourished in summer,

The slightly cooler weather invites the timely, diminutive cyclamen to appear,

A dainty flower with marbled leaves.

If grown in abundance, they are a stunning late autumn to winter feature.

Hydrangea heads are spectacular, turning to bold burgundy,

Prior to the fall of their purple tinged leaves.

Yes, the November garden is not yet devoid of pleasure.

Let us treasure the remainder of colour whilst we can!

Did you know that November is the best month

For foliage turned the brightest red?

It is truly stunning in scarlet splendour.

Let us offer all thanks for the final fling,

Colour so significant to us, in November’s splendour,

There really is no need for moody blues, not yet!

Creator Father, for the joys of an early November garden, I praise and thank You.I am sure faith opens our eyes wider to enjoy more the beauty of colour. Before I came to faith, I used to think of November as such a

dull month. But not any longer! Thank You for all that You have already shown me. I ask that all who have faith in Your love may continue to see and understand whatever it is You are currently revealing to us. Faith

gifts such happiness. Thank You! Amen.
