Summer was born,
Farmers had planted the corn.
God provided the necessity
Of sun and rain’s vitality.
Time passed slowly.
Corn ripened gradually
Will a harvest come
The work done rewarded eventually?
Summer holidays arrive,
Added bonus, we thrive.
In relaxed leisure time
Enjoyment is fine.
The seaside will beckon
Time for fun we reckon.
Meadow fields are lovely,
Sapphire blue cornflower
Amidst the scarlet poppy.
Whilst at home
Gardens with flowers sown,
The first chrysanthemum
Accompanies the last delphinium,
Amidst blooms which spike
Our attention to strike.
As with the elegant gladioli,
Or the rambling roses scrambling high.
What a show of glory
Is summer’s garden story,
Trusses of blooms everywhere
Their delight to readily share.
We pass high summer’s point,
Yet God continues to anoint
Time with His presence
Love His abiding essence.
As one month remaining
For summer’s delight sustaining.
Only then does time ticking,
That unmissable process unwinding,
Move us forwards
In another season most glorious.
For day by blessed day,
We realise as we pray,
There is always something
Around the corner waiting
Which is a fresh blessing.
The Father’s continuous addressing.
August comes on time,
Hopefully the days so fine,
The golden corn ripens
Summer holidays beckon.
The flower garden will still delight,
Offering abundance of colours bright.
Such loveliness is perceived
When in God we have believe.
The sun’s timeless glow
Helps us to know
The expectancy of sun and flowers
Is met by summer’s golden hours.
The waiting we knew in winter,
The hope in spring, days becoming warmer,
Summer arrived two months ago,
God’s perfect love ever to show.
Time is made sweet
By the opportunity we meet.
The Lord God, our Creator,
As our ever loving Father.
The One desiring our happiness
Season by season as time passes us.
Lord, for all the many joys of summer, I praise and thank You. May we always make the most of each day for time does pass so quickly, even our lifetime can be gone in a flash. Amen.
