“ ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” (Luke 11 v 2)
The kingdom of God both within and without
Must begin by the call to faith,
Made by the Lord Jesus, our Saviour,
Became clear to us by the Holy Spirit,
He acts in all loving mercy towards us,
To illuminate the cause of the †,
And the outcome the Lord God Almighty,
Purposed and planned for us to become family.
The Kingdom of God as set up by the Lord Jesus,
Our Saviour, our redeemer, our Divine Healer,
Working by means of the sanctifying Spirit,
To purify our heart, mind, will and conscience,
Enabling us to find the glory of God,
Here in our earthly kingdom, established by Jesus.
The sole purpose of its citizens is love,
To know love, to show love, to grow in love.
Love is the currency of God’s earthly kingdom.
There need be no silence about this.
We can shout out the message joyfully:
The Lord Jesus, although crucified at Calvary,
Having died on the † for our sinfulness,
Has risen again to be with us forever.
He is as our Father promised, our forever Saviour.
But that is not the end of this true story.
Jesus is the beginning of faith’s unfolding.
He is the Alpha, the very start as He speaks to our heart.
The Lord Jesus lives within us, in all believers,
All thanks to the sacraments and notably the Holy Eucharist.
So we find, too, the Kingdom of God is within us.
A place of peace, of hope, of joy in our security,
A position of friendship with Jesus by whom we delight to worship.
A meeting with the Spirit of holiness,
He who makes a radical difference to daily life.
“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15 v 13)
“The Kingdom of God is in your midst. It is not spectacular. It grows in silence, in hiding, through witness, prayer, and the attraction of the Spirit.” (Pope Francis)
Dearest Father, may Your name be hallowed as we devote our life to the Lord Jesus. Thank You for sending salvation to us in a recognisable way. The Lord Jesus, the Lord of life, He is that way. He is our joy.
Thank You that as we pray, our Saviour Brother comes to us by means of the Holy Spirit, to heal us from our brokenness and help us put our best foot forwards in starting again. He is our hope.
The Spirit as sent by Jesus, is all wisdom and truth to us, opened out primarily through the teaching of the sacred Scriptures, also through inspiration, guidance and correction directly given. Here is our peace.
Jesus as Lord, the Divine Healer, and Word, the abiding Word of Your promise to save us from all that is evil and show us the way to pray and strive after holiness, all of this is new life to us. We rejoice to no longer be
in condemnation, a prisoner of satan.
So the heavenly kingdom upon earth begins to be built, to become established as we learn to focus on Jesus and to extend once we become evangelists blessed by the Word of truth.
May this ever be to the glory of the Holy Trinity as increasingly we learn to enter a silent space and pray, raising our heart, mind, will and conscience to You, Lord God.
We call upon You as our Father, our Brother Saviour and our Sanctifying Lord, and our faith becomes more and more vital to us, as necessary as the air we breathe. Thank You for this experience.
“Your works Lord, are great, studied by all who have pleasure in them. For Your work is honourable and glorious,” (based on Psalm 111v 2, 3) utterly life changing for us as Your “Righteousness endures
forever.” (Cont.)
It is this right standing before You which so blesses us to come Kingdom builders and maintainers. “Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but to Your name give glory, because of Your mercy, because of Your
truth.” (Psalm 115 v 1)
Thank You that by praying we invite the Holy Spirit to devote us to Your love and mercy by adhering as closely as possible to the teaching and example of the Lord Jesus, the perfect Man. May our service in His
name ever give glory to the Almighty Trinity.
We must tread a fine line and need help with this by seeking and finding Your answers to all problems, difficulties and discrepancies in life, attentively listening for Your response, watching to see what will
happen in Your name.
May all our trust be in You, no longer in position, nor possession of wealth, for that is not the way of the kingdom. Let us ever seek illumination from holy, not worldly wisdom as we devote ample time to prayer.
Please help us to set our heart on doing Your work Lord God, as the Holy Spirit of Jesus,Your Spirit sets before us, leaving behind all cause and concern for personal gain.
And essentially, may we always remember that whatever our talents and skills to be offered towards assisting the heavenly Kingdom upon earth, this will be of no real lasting use, without the Lord’s presence and
anointing.
Then one thing that is essential: “Give to the LORD, O families of the peoples” (Psalm 96 v 7) offering all thanks for being made a family by the righteousness of our Saviour Brother, the Holy Spirit, enabling us to
“Give to the LORD glory and strength.” (Cont.)
We must, must, must give to You as a Trinity, all the glory due to You, bringing ourselves as an offering made acceptable by Jesus. For in Him, through Him, according to the purifying and anointing of the Spirit, we can
“Worship You, LORD, in the beauty of holiness.” (based on v 9).
Oh what an honour, the greatest privilege. May the Kingdom not merely survive, but flourish, time and again, all to Your glory most glorious Trinity.
We delight to be Your family with a Saviour and Sanctifier. May it be that the Lord Jesus alive in us, is ever the glory of Your name, dearest Father. Amen.
