IN THE LIGHT OF LOVE

SUE O'DONNELL. 24.04.21

“ ‘This far the LORD has helped us’.” (1 Samuel 7 v 12)

So why have any doubt, or fear, or worry now?

The Lord God is a faithful Trinity,

Entirely committed to our complete welfare.

The Lord is our Protector, Provider, Deliverer,

As well as being our Creator, Re-Creator,

And essentially, our Saviour, Redeemer Restorer.

What more could we ask, want or need?

We can plead before the throne of mercy,

And because of Christ Jesus’ victory at the †,

Be assured that our Father will answer us,

Through His Son, by the Spirit, in the best way possible.

He will make life identifiable for us,

In the way to go to know wisdom and truth.

The Lord does take great time and care over this,

For He knows the enemy attacks us frequently.

Enemy attack is often disguised, not easy to spot.

But what a lot of help we have got in the Trinity.

“What a wonderful work of His grace to save us out of the death and darkness of sin, out of the hands of the evil one we once served.” (Ephesians 2 v 5 The Truth)

In the Spirit of the Father and Christ Jesus,

The Spirit of holiness is help, totally devoted to us.

It is for good reason He is our Counsellor,

An Adviser in all that actually matters.

And what is this? It is our pursuit of holiness.

Our efforts made, displayed to become Christlike.

The Holy Spirit developed our friendship with Christ Jesus.

For the decided purpose of holiness, of goodness.

As long as we pray, we are continuously helped.

Helped in myriad ways day by day,

For to become holy we have to outwit the enemy.

We have to remain steadfastly focused,

Our feet firmly on earth, but our gaze directed towards heaven.

The best way to do this is to align with One

Who came from heaven to be amongst us.

The resurrected Lord Jesus is this very Person,

Alive in us by means of the Holy Spirit.

Alive and active, ever energetic and effective. Why?

“Because of His great love for us, God who is so rich in mercy and because He loves us so much, actually brought us to life with Christ, even when we were spiritually dead because of our sins.” (Ephesians 2 v 4 The Truth)

“The truth is that we are the work of God’s own hands. Now we live in Christ Jesus, we are able to do the good works that are the evidence of our salvation.” (Ephesians 2 v 10 The Truth)

“It is good to know that these are the very works that God planned and prepared for us to accomplish!” (Ephesians 2 v 10 The Truth) Therefore please pray for those who as yet do not have faith in the salvation won for us by Christ Jesus and those whose life is filled by doubt, fear or worry.

Please pray for a fresh outpouring of the Spirit of faith, He who enables us to pray because we know we have a Brother who is our Saviour.

Please pray for the glory of God to be more widely evidenced by Christ Jesus alive and active amongst us, offering us His Sacred Heart and infinite merits.

Please pray for us all to recognise and own our sinfulness, that which necessitated the Lord Jesus dying as a sacrifice to gain forgiveness for us.

Called to a life of hope, peace and joy, please pray for the peace of knowing, loving and serving the Lord Jesus, as influenced by the Holy Spirit, please pray for peace to rule in our hearts, all to the glory of God.

Please pray with thanksgiving for the blessings that flow thereby;

Please pray for all the wonderful works of the Almighty Trinity to be recognised, owned, honoured and praised.

Please pray to acknowledge that God’s ways are not our ways and His being infinitely higher, we can fully trust in and depend upon.

In this, is the peace which Christ Jesus offers to us, He being in the Father and the Father in Him, reaching out by the Holy Spirit to include us. (John 17 v 24, 25, 26)

Please pray then for the godly result, that peace which surpasses all understanding.

Please pray for the Light of holy love to ever brightly shine upon us, that we bring delight, honour, praise and glory to the Holy Trinity, now and forever. Amen.
