“Wisdom is the principle thing; therefore get wisdom and get understanding.” (Proverbs 5 v 7)
Do we seek to follow the guidelines for godliness
As laid out clearly before us in the sacred Scriptures?
How else can we grow in our faith
If not open to the Spirit so as to learn about Jesus?
How can we live like the Lord God asks us to
Unless we study carefully the biblical narrative?
Then having studied, we have to put the teaching into action.
Are we ready for the world’s reaction to this?
When godliness is a reproof, godlessness will persecute us.
What we must do is maintain a clear conscience,
By living out the holy teaching undergirded by prayer.
Do we need the call to service
To in one way or another, according to the skills given us,
Seek to speak the gospel message boldly and loudly?
Are we earnest in our intention, serious in application?
Do we truly treasure our Spirit led friendship with the Lord Jesus?
“Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God.” (1 John 4 v 1, 2)
Is there sufficient evidence that He lives within us?
Do we strive after patient endurance learned through perseverance?
Are we sufficiently industrious as when led by the Spirit of holiness?
Is spiritual warfare met with us clothed in faith’s armoury?
Do we banish the enemy resolutely prayerful?
Do we ensure the truth of Jesus is not diverted nor distorted,
Not defeated, nor deleted, but invested into daily life?
Do we seek to lift each other above the strife of the adversary?
Are we prepared to endure inconvenience maybe hardship?
Is all our worship centred upon the Lord Jesus?
Do we consider ourselves to be in strict training as disciples,
So therefore we welcome the necessary discipline?
Do we understand how setbacks can become onward stepping stones?
Are we really and truly committed to the Lord God,
Knowing, loving, honouring and serving the majesty of the Trinity of glory?
In short, is our identity being fully formed by the power of holy love?
“By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.” (1 John 4 v 13)
“And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Saviour of the world.” (1 John 4 v 14)
“Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him (her), and (s)he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and (s)he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him (her).” (1 John 4 v 15, 16) Let us pray according to the power of this holy love.
