WHAT A BLESSING

SUE O'DONNELL. 16.04.21

Weeping willows’ yellow greening;

Pretty pansies sublime;

Yellow forsythia glowing;

Spring bulbs bursting;

Camelias first flowering;

Charming Chaenomeles climbing;

Spring baskets blooming;

Anemone Blanda amassing;

Fragrant hyacinths beguiling;

Catkins freely dangling;

Sun happily shining;

Daffodils gaily dancing;

Birds sweetly singing;

Garden begin flourishing;

Spring’s timely arriving;

Many dog walking;

Some out cycling;

People happily sharing;

Passing by, greeting.

Sky blue a blessing;

Warm breezes rippling;

Open air refreshing;

Lush grass greening;

Floral abundance spreading;

Children outside playing;

Time is offering

Spring days delighting,

Even being exciting.

What a blessing!

A benefit adding.

The day’s moving

Rapidly forwards, summer approaching.

Full, fullest meaning

Came to us at Easter.

Not just lambs gambling,

Nor chicks cheeping,

Nor rabbits running,

Nor ducklings waddling,

But true love gifting.

In Christ’s dying

Comes our arising,

New life benefitting.

We are waiting

Already eagerly anticipating,

Without any disappointing.

In Jesus’ sacrificing

Is our arising,

True love experiencing,

Hope now prevailing.

Easter joy was forthcoming

Were we preparing?

Steady ready making,

Keeping daily praying?

Repenting and sorrowing,

Followed by rejoicing,

Praising and thanksgiving!

Our Lenten journeying

Daily now passing.

Love is compelling.

Joy our awakening.

Earth is producing.

Holy love’s our teaching.

What a blessing!

Spring, life’s urging,

New life surging.

Spring, God’s addressing.

He is our loving.

“I shall praise You to the heights, God my King, I shall bless Your name for ever and ever. Day after day I shall bless You, I shall praise Your name for ever and ever. Great is Yahweh and worthy of all praise, His greatness beyond all reckoning, Each age shall praise Your deeds to the next, proclaiming Your mighty works. Your renown is the splendour of Your glory, I will ponder the story of Your wonders. They will speak of Your awesome power, and I shall recount Your greatness.” (Psalm 145 v 1-6)

“Sing to Yahweh in thanksgiving, play the harp for our God. He veils the sky with clouds, and provides the earth with rain, makes grass grow on the hills and plants for people to use, gives fodder to cattle and to young ravens when they cry.”  (Psalm 147 v 7, 8. 9)

And what favour You show us Lord God, in Your beloved Son, whose blood shed at the † wins forgiveness for us. Joy is our awakening as we become Your cherished children. What a blessing we experienced at Easter. May this season following be our time of worthwhile progression as we now possess the Word of Life. Thank You for this invaluable gift. What a blessing! Amen.
