WITHIN THE HEART OF LOVE

Sue O’Donnell 04.02.21

“Pour out Your unfailing love on those who love You; give justice to those with honest hearts.” (Psalm 36 v 10 NLT)

We ask this of You, dearest Father,

Praying with thanksgiving, hope and confidence

In the highly exalted, venerated name of Christ Jesus.

He is our life, the gift of Your love.

He is Your love, the means of mercy.

Jesus atones for our sinfulness upon the † of sacrifice.

All praise is due to Him and You,

Plus the enlightening, faith gifting Holy Spirit.

Without His impact and influence upon us,

We cannot recognise Your plan of loving mercy.

We do not see an answer to the world’s complexity of difficulty.

But the Lord Jesus lived amongst us as Teacher,

As well as Saviour, Master and Redeemer.

He inspires a way of life which is new to us.

One of discarding our selfishness to move forwards,

In the gracious love bestowed upon us in Christ Jesus.

How marvellous it is to know we have a Saviour.

How satisfying to meet Him as our Brother,

A perfectly holy Son we can love, respect and depend upon.

“Then I said, ‘Behold, I come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me. I delight to do Your will, O my God, and Your law is within my heart.” (Psalm 40 v 7, 8)

We find our deepest fullest, richest happiness

Is in the company of the Lord Jesus prayerfully sought,

Being taught by the Spirit who reveals goodness to be

As the method, means and motive of daily life.

Gradually sins’ strife falls away from us.

We strive to become more like the Lord Jesus,

Love being His message, love being our purpose.

The Holy Spirit continues to cheer us on,

And this is so encouraging and uplifting.

We never want to look back, grow slack,

Nor lack time spent in Spirit led prayer,

The place where we share with our Saviour,

Aiming to do all we can to delight and honour You,

Dearest Father of heaven upon earth.

Thank You for our new birth, may we serve You.

You deserve nothing but our utmost best.

Therefore let us pass this test of life

By living within the heart of love Jesus offers us,

Able by the Spirit to count the blessings daily.

“Many, O LORD my God, are Your wonderful works which You have done; and Your thoughts toward us cannot be recounted to You in order; if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.” (Psalm 40 v 5)

“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.” (2 Corinthians 9 v 15)

Let us pray with “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm because we are united with Christ.” (Ephesians 1 v 3

NLT)

Let us pray because “Long ago the LORD said to Israel: ‘I have loved you, My people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to Myself.” (Jeremiah 31 v 3 NLT)

Let us pray because the Lord God says “ ‘You will do more than restore the people of Israel to Me. I will make you a light to the Gentiles, and you will bring My salvation to the ends of the earth.” (Isaiah 49 v

6 NLT)

Let us pray, for “If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Christ Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1 v 7)
