“ ‘All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father.
Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him’.”
(Matthew 11 v 27)
So where does this teaching leave us?
On our knees surely, pleading for insight,
The wisdom to know how to recognise
What is our Father’s will and what is not.
Is this why the petition stating or rather asking
“ ‘Your kingdom come, Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven’,” (Matthew 6 v 10)
Follows on immediately after the praise opening
In the words of the prayer Jesus Himself taught us?
We need then to access the unique relationship
Which exists between our Father and our Saviour Brother.
“No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.” (John 1 v 18)
Jesus tells us that all aspects of life and death
Have been committed to Him by our Father.
His love, reverence and obedience are at the centre of this,
As Father and Son know each other,
Together of course, with the Holy Spirit, exclusively.
This is a relationship of total self-giving love,
Making Father, Son and Holy Spirit although a Trinity,
That is Three separate Persons, yet One in identity,
It is into this profound unity we are invited.
Think of the honour, it is of the highest degree.
Consider the privilege, it is of the richest extent.
“...and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ. And these things I write to you that your joy may be full.” (1 John 1 v 3, v 4 personalised)
This fullness happens when, by the Spirit at work,
Ever seeking to make all of us holy,
The Lord Jesus impacts His intimate knowledge
And understanding of the Father, to us.
This is why Jesus describes Himself
As “ ‘The way’,” (John 14 v 6) we must follow to know God.
Made one with the Lord Jesus in baptism,
We too, enter this intimately loving, closest of relationships,
With the Almighty God, supreme over heaven and earth.
We would know none of this experience if it were not
For the Holy Spirit of faith introducing us to Jesus.
“You are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, (s)he is not His. And if Christ is in you...the Spirit is life because of
righteousness.” (Romans 8 v 9, 10)
The Holy Spirit is helping us to share in this dynamic love
Which personalises the nature of the Trinity.
Our adoration of the Holy Trinity is a heart knowledge,
A deeply spiritual, truthful, God given understanding,
Developed and nurtured by the power of holy love.
It is by the power of the Holy Spirit in response
To ardent prayer of seeking on our behalf,
We are drawn into the relationship of this love,
And learn the truth as to who the Lord Jesus is
Plus, all that He means to the Father and us.
“...that Rock was Christ.” (1 Corinthians 10 v 4)
“I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of women is man, and the head of Christ is God.” (1 Corinthians 11 v 3)
As each member of the Trinity are as one in love for us, yet each have separate roles and functions, all equal and unified in one will and purpose, each all lovingly respectful of the other, please pray to ever be a part of the unity of the Trinity.
“Because you have received your second birth, you are to be as new born babies who long for pure spiritual milk, that will nourish you and enable you to grow in the process of salvation, which began in you when you first tasted the Lord’s goodness.” (1 Peter 2 v 2, 3 The Truth)
