GRACED (1)

SUE O'DONNELL. 25.04.21

“…sin no longer reigns in our lives, resulting in spiritual death.” (Romans 5 v 21 The Truth)

Why not? Because according to God’s grace,

His steadfast loving kindness and mercy,

An unmerited, unearned fond favour,

We are given a Saviour in Christ Jesus.

This is a grace greater than our sin,

A grace enabling us to begin again because of forgiveness.

“Despite all our sin, His gift has restored us to a relationship of righteousness and total acceptance.”

(Romans 5 v 16 The Truth)

We become who we are meant to be

Through the one Man who is perfectly holy.

He calls us to belong to God once more.

Christ Jesus is our Saviour, dying for us on a †.

The sacrifice of His holiness earns our forgiveness.

No more under condemnation we are a new creation.

“Through one man’s disobedience many become sinners. Through one Man’s obedience many are made righteous and totally acceptable in God’s sight.” (Romans 5 v 19 The Truth)

“Now grace reigns in us instead, because of God’s gift of acceptance that makes us able to receive the gift of eternal life, made possible through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 5 v 21 The Truth)

Let us pray with all thanksgiving for:

the written word of God, His word as sweet as honey;

the hope we receive through studying sacred Scripture;

the joy of Christ Jesus’ friendship;

His real presence as the living Bread in the Holy Eucharist;

being touched by the Holy Spirit, we recognise and respond to Christ Jesus as God’s living and abiding Word;

the Holy Spirit leads us in prayer;

we learn of all the love and mercy our Father gifts us, through His Son, by His Spirit;

we are made righteous in God’s sight, enabled to lead a life of holiness;

obedience and reverence delight and honour our Father;

when we fail in this, we have a Saviour through whom we can repent and ask for mercy;

mercy is never withheld from believers in Christ Jesus;

the hope, the peace and the joy emanating from knowing, loving, honouring and serving the Almighty Trinity. Amen.
