WONDERFUL WORKS

Sue O’Donnell. 02.09.20

“Oh that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness and for His wonderful works to the children of men!” (Psalm 107 v 8)

For notable amongst these wonderful works,

Is the institution of the Holy Eucharist,

Whereby we are spiritually fed on the Body of Jesus,

And purified by partaking of His blood as shed for us.

We must offer all highest thanks and warmest praise.

“For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.” (Psalm 107 v 9)

Jesus is life to us, life in the fullness of holiness.

He releases us from the prison of darkness,

Bound up in self-serving and many false gods, idolatry.

Mankind has become rebellious, really unworthy.

But mercifully, we are offered rescue through Christ Jesus.

“Then they cried out to the LORD and He saved them out of their distresses.” (Psalm 107 v 13)

The Lord God Almighty, an all merciful Father,

Brought us out of the darkness of our sinfulness.

By the industrious Holy Spirit, ever at work,

Our Father offered us a completely new life in Jesus.

We are redeemed and restored to every holy grace and favour.

“The righteous see it and rejoice, and all iniquity stops its mouth.” (Psalm 107 v 42)

“Whoever is wise will observe these things and they will understand the loving kindness of the LORD.” (Psalm 107 v 43)

Lord Jesus, there is so very much to discuss with You each day, I often feel rather overwhelmed, not being sure where to start as I pray, after having invited Your Spirit to take hold of me, and then placing the day

securely in Your all loving hands.

I ask that all who believe in You, live to give their utmost time, talents, resources to works of service,

committing to love, honour and delight our Father through You, by responding to the Spirit’s call.

I ask according to Your promise that when we ask we receive, when we seek You, and Your all holy wisdom and truth, this we will find and so the blessings flow.

All blessings and benefits are the result of our Father’s will and wish, as certified by You, Lord Jesus, and illuminated to us by the co-equal Spirit, our faith’s Developer.

I thank You that we belong to You as a Trinity of love and mercy, the One in Three we cannot live successfully without. So perhaps my most urgent prayer for today, is Lord Jesus, share Your holiness with us,

please.

Let our time taken to pray set the day aright. “ ‘O Lord, I pray, let Your ear be attentive....to the prayer”

of all of us who live to know You through becoming more like the Lord Jesus, open to Your Spirit, and in this

way let us “ ‘Prosper this day’.” Amen. (Nehemiah 1 v 11)
