“We have a way of knowing what true love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. That is true love. And we ought, therefore, to lay down our lives for our brothers (sisters) in true love.” (1 John 3 v 16 The Truth)
We are called to the highest standard in life,
Because this is how the Lord Jesus
Lived and died as an example for us.
His highest purpose remained ever the same.
The gain was to glorify God by serving us,
Even to the acceptance of a humiliating †.
We too, are called to live self givingly,
Not necessarily unto death, but particularly
That we love, help and support each other,
For every brother and sister is important to our Father.
“ ‘Who is like You, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders.” (Exodus 15 v 11)
There are no people of higher or lesser rank,
And we all have Jesus to thank for His example.
Let then the warm sunlight of His light shine,
Shine over us, shine amongst us, even shine through us.
Let us make every effort and endeavour, like our Saviour,
To help and support each other wherever we are.
What can we give in time, effort, energy,
In resources and of course, individual skills and talents,
That will help to make the world go round more smoothly?
“And my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness and of Your praise all the day long.” (Psalm 35 v 28)
And of course, we have to learn to put self behind us,
An effort applauded as we concede to the Holy Spirit.
The merit of this will be an increase in holiness,
As we attempt to share every aspect of life
By inviting and involving the Lord Jesus,
To be in our intentions, decisions, actions and conversations.
True love results in the love of Jesus being evident in us,
All praise, all thanks ever be to the glory of God.
Let us pray to this end to ensure godly results.
To safely combat the enemy, we have to keep praying.
“It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High: to declare Your loving kindness in the morning and Your faithfulness every night.” (Psalm 92 v 1, 2)
“For You, LORD, have made me glad through Your work; I will triumph in the works of Your hands.” (Psalm 92 v 4)
Let us pray.
