SUE O'DONNELL. 11.04.21
“O my Strength, to You I sing praises, for You, O God, are my refuge, the God who shows me unfailing love.” (Psalm 59 v 17 NLT)
We believe in God’s living Word,
Heard in our heart and our head,
That we be fed on the Bread of heaven.
We are sinners redeemed by mercy,
The blood of Christ Jesus, cleansing us.
He overcomes all of sins’ adversity,
For Christ Jesus’ way is one of wisdom and truth,
Brotherly kindness, charity and full godliness.
He heals us spiritually to keep us from sinking
Into that sinning which threatens to drown us.
What grace, healing and blessings of giftedness are given us in Christ Jesus,
This is the unfailing love of our Father of mercy.
“As for me, I will sing about Your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about Your unfailing love. For You have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress.” (Psalm 59 v 16 NLT)
This distress is the mess of life.
When I am distracted, falsely attracted by satan,
Ignoring the gospel teaching as if I were blind,
Or deaf, or ignorant of what holiness means.
Put simply, holiness is our new life of love in Christ Jesus,
Without blemish, or spot, or stain of sins’ ugliness.
I err and stray frequently all too easily.
O Lord of mercy, I am truly sorry,
And as an Easter daughter, I ask Your forgiveness.
How awful if the † were to be in vain, Christ’s pain in dying.
But this was not to be so, for He died to gain our forgiveness,
Rising to invite us into a new life of promise of holiness.
“Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise You! I will praise You as long as I live, lifting up my hands to You in prayer.” (Psalm 63 v 3, 4 NLT)
“Teach me Your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to Your truth. Grant me purity of heart that I may honour You.” (Psalm 86 v 11 NLT)
Let us pray as an Easter people, rejoicing, “With all my heart I will praise You, O Lord my God. I will give glory to Your name forever.” (Psalm 86 v 12 NLT)
Let us praise Your name as Father Creator, Deliverer, Re-creator, the Lord of mercy, unfailingly loving.
“For Your love for me is very great. You have rescued me from the depths of death.” (v 13)
“You, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry, and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.” (v 15)
“You, O LORD, help and comfort me.” (v 17) Ever I want to pray and praise You, thanking You for Your unfailing love and mercy.
When you Lord God, revealed Your loving kindness mercifully, You “Saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of Your mercy.” (based on Titus 3 v 5 NLT)
“You washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. You generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Saviour.” (based on v 5, 6)
“Because of Your grace You declared us righteous and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.” (based on v 7)
The result is as an Easter people, “We cannot stop telling about everything we have seen and heard” (Acts 4 v 20 NLT) according to Your unfailing love.
We share in the Lord Jesus’ death and resurrection, becoming His disciples, enabled to live a joyful and exciting adventure of discovery in our daily faith. Amen.
