that we may progress in living Your way.
Your word, bidding us to obey,
for it is for our own good.

Your word, protection,
inspection to check out the depth of our trust.
Your word, concern,
compassion to fashion our understanding of You.
Your word, revelation,
that we may yearn to know You yet more.
Your word, history,
revealing some of the mystery of faith.
Your word, mercy,
salvation message to proclaim to every nation.
Your word, prophecy, foretelling,
spelling out Your all holy plan and purpose.

Your word, blessed assurance, reassurance
that we walk in the light of Your wisdom.
Your word, guarantee of safety,
security for the next step to take.
Your word, anchor amidst affliction,
eternal unchanging law the direction for life.
Your word, law from the law Giver,
the enactment and enforcement of the Creator.
Your word, operation,
to bring about willing co-operation by us, Your people.
Your word, revelation, given not to our reason,
but to season and sustain our belief.
Your word, not affected by time nor circumstance,
so we can glance at Your way to glimpse eternity.

Your word, given in the context of infinity,
that we may thank You for Your constancy.
Your word, originating from Your mind,
so mankind may find You.
Your word, the ultimate in sovereignty,
the complete holy authority over heaven and earth.
Your word, given that we may know Your decrees,
go on bended knees and worship Your holiness.
Your word, an expression of Your faithfulness,
helping us to maintain hope under duress.
Your word, a hope and a blessing,
addressing our every want and need.
Your word, the explanation we need,
that we may intercede by prayer.

Your word, the way for me to go,
to follow You, Your Son and Your Spirit.
Your word, stirred in our hearts by Christ
Your Son, living and active as the Word.
Your word, given meaning by Your Spirit,
the One who enlightens, guides, illuminates.
You word, Your precepts, Your call in Christ,
that we may fall into line and honour You.
Your word, objectives for life lived Christ’s way,
that we may be subjective to Him.
Your word, the end purpose, the meaning through Christ,
so we are not seeming to be living a pointless existence.
Your word, harmony, conducive to good, given by Christ,
the proclivity towards the holiness we search and long for.
“I have considered my ways and have turned my steps to Your statutes.” Psalm 119 v 59
Your word, command, Spirit led,
that does demand our full attention.
Your word, promise of fulfilment,
the Spirit’s conviction, that we may not be shaped by affliction.
Your word, imparting new life, restoration, Spirit fed,
a promise of our eternal sanctification.
Your word, Spirit inspired, that we know redemption,
Being saved from evil’s influence as we embrace Your grace.
“Remember Your word to Your servant, In which You have made me hope.” (Psalm 119 v 99)
Your word, the Spirit’s wisdom, the freedom to choose life,
an antidote to the indulgence of the mistaken strife of self.
“I will praise the LORD who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.”

Your word, an invitation to commitment,
asking for our declaration of service.
Your word, mirror of eternity,
the reality spelled out clearly enough.
Your word, permanence amidst the transitory,
security amidst the shifting sands of time.
“I am a stranger on earth,
do not hide Your commands from me.” (Psalm 119 v 19)
Your word, setting before us life or death,
blessings or curse, that we may immerse ourselves in the positive.
Your word, safe access to You, Lord God of life,
Your word is the success we hope and long for.
“The reverence of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow His precepts have good understanding.”
Psalm 111 v 10
“Great peace have they who love Your law, and nothing can make them stumble.”
Psalm 119 v 165
Lord God, Creator most holy, lawful Ruler, mankind’s Redeemer, immortal Sovereign, perfect Provider, life’s everyday Guide, the only One infinite in knowledge, majestic in power, absolute in truth, perfect in love, Your immutable law offers us peace in completeness, the knowledge of the wholeness of Your love, the promise of our share in Your own holiness, so nothing is lacking in life. Thank You for this most wonderful blessing, Your word addressing our every condition, concern, criticism or even complaint.
Your word covers our entire life, spiritual, material, physical, emotional and intellectual. Bring us under Your law that we may know Your completeness, the harmony of being in step with all You say. Strengthen us to obey You with a willing heart and mind compliant with Your wisdom and truth. Love us entirely by Your word that evil cannot discourage nor defeat us.
Enable us all to proclaim with faith, “My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. He will not allow our feet to slip.” ( Based on Psalm 121 v 1-3) Your word stems from the entirety of Your holiness. This is Your help, Your guidance, Your correction, Your mercy, Your support, Your strength, Your peace and Your joy given to us. Your word watches over us and upholds us.
Our security depends upon our relationship with You and healthy, sound relationships are built on trust. I thank and praise You that we can depend upon Your word at all times. Your word, heard and acted upon, keeps a tender but firm hold upon us. Uphold us, Lord God, continue to uphold us.
“The LORD will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul. The LORD will guard your going out and your coming in. From this time forth and forever.” ( Psalm 121 v 7-8) May we commit to Your safekeeping, the promise of Your provision and protection, praising You for Your assurance that when we follow Your word of life, no evil, neither sorrow, nor trial, nor hardship, nor plague, nor persecution, none of this will bring us under satan’s dominion of sin.
For – all thanks be to You, Lord God, our Father – Your word is Your promise, and “Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.” (Joshua 23 v 14) Your word is our inspiration, Your dedication to life in all fullness. Reclaim us as Your people as we learn to listen to Your truth and act upon it. Say to us: “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.” (Isaiah 60 v 1)
“Cause me to hear Your loving kindness in the morning, for in You do I trust. Cause me to know the way in which I should walk. For I lift up my soul to You. Deliver me, O LORD, from my enemies; in You I take shelter. Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God, Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness.” (Psalm 143 v 8-10)
“Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, ‘If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him’.” ( John 7 v 37)
May Your Spirit lead us to Christ.
“Now glory be to You, Lord God! By Your mighty power at work within us, You are able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope. To You be the glory in us, Your people, through Jesus Christ, Your living abiding Word, forever and
ever.” (based on Ephesians 3 v 20, 21)
