And you will walk the way
He desires you to obey for a purpose.
God has a definite plan for you,
Begun when He gave you interests and talents.
Those special, God given skills placed for a purpose.
“He predestined us to be adopted as His sons (and daughters) through Jesus Christ to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the One He loves."
Ephesians 1 v 5, 6
What does God now want you to do?
To do through His Son, the One who seeks
To speak the Father’s all holy wisdom and truth
Both to you and through you, that benefits ensue.
What is God saying to you in Christ?
“Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you whom My Father has blessed, take as your heritage the kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you made me welcome, lacking clothes and you clothed me, sick and you visited me, in prison and you came to see me.’ Then the upright will say to Him in reply, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and make You welcome, lacking clothes and clothe You? When did we find You sick or in prison and go to see You? And the King will answer, ‘In truth I tell you, in so far as you did this to one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did it to Me’.”
Matthew 25 v 34-40
‘Come’.
‘Go’.
‘Ask.’
‘Seek.’
Which part of this imperative command
Do you understand today?
Discover, uncover, pray and obey, miracles await!
“I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled.”
Luke 12 v 49
“His name shall endure forever; His name shall continue as long as the sun. And (wo)men shall be blessed in Him; all nations shall call Him blessed.”
Psalm 72 v 17
Lord Jesus,
You are Lord of all, all times, all people, all places, all opportunities. You are the Lord of all life, Lord of all holiness. We turn to You to honour You. We bow down before You, Lord of all power and might, Lord of all wisdom and truth. We magnify Your name above all names, for all You are is holy, and all You do is holy. In You, through You, with You alive in us by Your Spirit, we acknowledge Your supremacy, Lord of lords and King of kingsto the glory of God our Father. We thank and praise You with rejoicing as we claim Your promise to us:
“ I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it abundantly.” (John 10 v 10)
“Blessed is the (wo)man who reverences the LORD, who delights greatly in His commandments. His/her descendants will be mighty on earth; the generations of the upright will be blessed... (S)he will not be afraid of evil tidings; His/her heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. His/her heart is established.”
Psalm 112 v 1-2, 7-8
We seek to do Your will, O Holy One, to obey Your every command. Send Your Spirit to support and strengthen us, to direct and guide us. Be Lord, in all we think, desire, plan, do and say. You are the Lord of love. Be our love one to another. Have Your way with us. Take us, make us captive in mind and heart. “Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous (wo)man.” (Psalm 112 v 4) Lord, You are “The Way and the Truth and the Life” (John 14 v 6) of God in us. Tell us what to do. “It’s wonderful when You, Lord Jesus Christ displace worry at the centre of our life.” (based on Philippians 4 v 7)
Lord, teach us to pray. Show us how to pray as one, Your body the church. Show us how to speak as one, Your voice to be heard across our land. Inspire us to receive and believe in Your miracle working power that we may expect signs and wonders. Only You, Lord of life teach us right from wrong, only You reveal what is good and what is evil, only You make clear what is true and what is false in God’s eyes.
Be in us, work with us, empower us by Your Spirit, Lord. Revive us. Send the fire of Your Spirit to cleanse and purify. Ignite our faith as never before “Anyone who is not burning will not be able to set anyone else on fire.” (Peter of Rheim) “Send the fire today.” (From a hymn.Source not known.) Set us ablaze with the fire of Your love, Lord. Stem the flow of destruction in church and state.
“The whole world, for You, can no more than tip a balance, like a drop of morning dew falling on the ground. ... And thus, gradually, You correct those who offend; You admonish and remind them of how they have sinned, so that they may abstain from evil and trust in You, Lord.” (Wisdom 11 v 22 -12 v 2)
Lord, forgive us. We have dethroned You. Therefore we see a culture of death and darkness pervading society. Violent are the crimes and lawlessness, obscene is our behaviour, destructive is our God forsaken way of life, corrupt is our intention, evil is our failure to mention Your name. We are in crisis. Come, Lord Jesus, come, before it is too late. Pray with us. Pray for us. Pray in us. “ ‘Forgive us our trespasses. Deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever’.” (Matthew 6 v 12, 13)
Forever, You Lord, will be Lord of Your people as we turn to You with repentant hearts. You did not die in vain. Victorious is the triumph of Your †. You are the God who offers us hope. “You did not give us a spirit of timidity, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1 v 7) Therefore we will not be ashamed of Your gospel of truth. In You, Lord Jesus Christ, Saviour of the world, God “Has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to His own purpose and grace which was given us in You before time began.” (based on 2 Timothy 1 v 9)
Re-ignite the zeal of our forefathers’ faith, that we stem the tide of disintegration. In You, through You, Lord Jesus, we commit to prayer and action. “Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son; endless is the victory Thou o’er death hast won.” (E.L. Budry) “For we are our Father’s workmanship created in You, Lord Jesus Christ, prepared for those good works which God has prepared beforehand that we should act.”
(based on Ephesians 2 v 10)
In You Lord, through Your Spirit, may we be “Filled with the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3 v 19) May we be strengthened by Your Spirit that You, Lord Jesus Christ, Lord of life, Lord of love, “May dwell in our hearts through faith.” (based on Ephesians 3 v 17) “Now to Him, to God our glorious heavenly Father, to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us, to Him be the glory in the church by You, Christ Jesus our Lord, to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (based on Ephesians 3 v 20,21)
