Lord God, holy Father, I thank and praise You for how faith finds its answers in the love and life of the Lord Jesus. We can find this solution as we pray because Jesus is the truth You share with us. Jesus reveals the truth of our need of forgiveness. Jesus shows the truth regarding our fallen state, our sinfulness having placed us outside Your grace. Jesus shows us the meaning of true love as He willingly goes to the † of sacrifice on our behalf, taking upon Himself, the punishment due to us.
It is in Jesus where we discover the grace of revelation as to how You regard us dearest Father, how You long for our salvation, how You hold up before us the promise of an eternal happiness All of this is revealed by Jesus, in Jesus, as He is Your every promise fulfilled. We can never offer sufficient thanks and praise for the love and life of Jesus. “From the fullness of His grace we have all received one blessing after another.” (John 1 v 16) Thank You.
“You have given us Your very great and precious promises, so that through them we may participate in the divine nature.” (based on 2 Peter 1 v 6) “No matter how many promises You have made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ, and so through Him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to Your glory.” (based on 2 Corinthians 1 v 20) This is the highest calling in life, for which I praise You, Lord God, holy Father, asking that many more have faith in You because of all they discover in Jesus.
“Every good and perfect gift is from above,” (based on James 1 v 17) according to the power of holy love, “Coming down from You, the Father of lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (Cont.) How truly grateful I am for the constancy of Your love which never gives up on us. Dearest Father, You sent Your Son so we should experience fullness of life in His holiness as we open to Your co-equal Spirit. May we never block the work of the Spirit. Urgently we need the Holy Spirit’s empowerment to enable us all to have faith in You, to turn to You through Your Son.
“Father, pour out Your Spirit upon Your people, and grant us a new vision of Your glory, a new experience of Your power, a new faithfulness to Your word, and a new consecration to Your service, that Your love may grow among us, and Your Kingdom come through Christ our Lord.” (Source not known) Our Saviour Brother was sent to establish Your Kingdom of love, of peace, of hope, of joy and now it is up to us to continue His work. May we be inspired by the Holy Spirit.
“ ‘It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit and they are life. But there are some of you who do not believe’.” (John 6 v 63, 64) Lord God, this could apply to faith in our day. Turn our hearts to prayer, interceding on behalf of those who as yet, have not invited the Lord Jesus into their life. May we see a spiritual breakthrough as we pray offering our intentions through Jesus, endeavouring by our actions to build up His Kingdom, Your Kingdom on earth, dearest Father.
“The Lord gave the word; great was the company of those who proclaimed it.” (Psalm 68 v 11) Oh that this would happen. Lord, we have to pray to, through Jesus to see results. Please send us His teaching, anointing, sanctifying Spirit. We have to be brought to see our need for prayer and taught to pray using all the various forms. May Your Spirit show us how to intercede, to petition, to supplicate. “As for me, my prayer is to You, O LORD, in the acceptable time; O God, in the multitude of Your mercy, hear me in the truth of Your salvation,” (Psalm 69 v 13) for I pray asking that many, many more see their need of Jesus, invite the Spirit to be at work and turn in faith towards the Saviour of the world.
Father, we can pray according to Your will only if we align our life with that of Your Son. Please help us with this. Do not let our world lose further sight of the only One who can redeem us and restore us to the fullness of Your great grace and favour. We have to learn to trust You, to believe in all Your promises as fulfilled in Jesus. We have to accept Him as our own personal Redeemer, believing His claim to be Your way, Your truth and Your life made plain before us. We must learn to look to the † of salvation. Our faith’s search starts and ends with Jesus.
“We do not need to search for heaven, over here or over there, in order to find our eternal Father. In fact, we do not even need to speak out loud, for though we speak in the smallest whisper or the most fleeting thought, He is close enough to hear us.” (St Teresa of Avila) Lord, we have to experience this in Jesus as the promise that whoever has seen Him has seen You. Please take away our unbelief. Grant us the humility to so own our need of You we will seek to find You through the Spirit and make our discovery in Jesus’ personality, words and actions.
Come Holy Spirit, convince us of the reality of the power of holy love and the very real difference this makes to daily life. “Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name!” (Psalm 163 v 1) I so thank You for activating my faith in drawing me towards Jesus. Please ever keep me praying and praising. “Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come to You. Do not hide Your face from me in the day of trouble; incline Your ear to me; in the day that I call, answer me speedily,” (Psalm 102 v 1, 2) that I will have much cause to praise You with thanksgiving.
Experience has shown me that the highest, richest, fullest joy is experienced in sharing the love and life of Jesus. “Bless the LORD, O my soul,” (Psalm 103 v 2) for having met my Redeemer and Saviour, my Brother who perfects life for us. “And forget not all His benefits,” (Cont) for they are countless. “Who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies...” (v 3, 4) Thank You
for the most marvellous gift of faith offered in Jesus, shaped by the Spirit.
I praise You, dearest Father, for all that Your Son was and still is to all who seek You through Him. I thank You for His continuous presence on earth, gifted through His very own Spirit, Your Spirit, that we may love, honour and serve You by our life given to Jesus. There is nothing comparable to this joy, this taste of heaven. To be enabled to worship through Jesus is the fullest joy, such a rich privilege. Ever may we praise and thank You.
Thank You for the amazing love gifted to us, the patience, the tolerance, the compassion which are Yours Lord God, that which we see always at work in Jesus. His Spirit, Your Spirit, is our strength of belief, our ability to trust, our humility to own our need and pray. Thank You that we find the connection between heaven and earth made in Jesus as soon as we accept Him as Your living Word of truth. Thank You for being God with us and always with us in the Spirit of Your Son. To know and follow Jesus is to enjoy life in all the fullness You promise.
“ ‘If anyone serves Me, let him (or her) follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him (or her) My Father will honour’.” (John 12 v 26) What a grace, what a privilege, what a responsibility. Father, may we ever love, honour and serve You as a response to the love and honour You grant to us in the presence of the Lord Jesus. His love is Servant Spirited. May ours be too, that we serve You through Your Son, by Your Spirit who is the power of holy love made active and effective. May we live through this power.
How the Lord Jesus turns our understanding upside down! To be servant spirited in His service is to be great in stature in Your eyes, Lord God, for we are made worthy of a share in the Lord Jesus’ holiness. We have been elevated to an honourable position. “ ‘Love your enemies, do good and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons (and daughters) of the Most High.” (Luke 6 v 35) May we see Your love come to perfection in us as we live through Jesus.
“ ‘This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you’.” (John 15 v 12) What a wonderful opportunity is opened out before us. May we not waste our life, but always have faith in You, Lord God, according to what we learn through the presence of Your Son and Your Spirit’s direction and connection. May our life be one of honourable service always looking towards heaven, blessed by the grace of revelation, witnessing and worshipping in response. To the Trinity be all the glory in every life well lived in Your service. Amen.
