“You are a holy people to the LORD your God, the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples in the face of the earth.” (Deuteronomy 7 v 6)
Richly blessed by the Lord Jesus at Easter,
The time now is when accordingly
Daily life should be full of joy and expectancy,
An assurety as to the holy love of God
Poured into searching, faith desiring hearts,
By the power of the Holy Spirit, Shaper of our sanctity.
“Save now, I pray, O LORD; O LORD, I pray, send now prosperity.” (Psalm 118 v 25)
Remember what happened to those first disciples,
When filled by the Holy Spirit they spread out
Far and wide into society to spell out the reality of holy love. Their actions were effective in converting many,
Because the Spirit had animated them fully
By the personal love of the Lord Jesus, God’s Son.
“The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.” (Psalm 118 v 22)
The perfectly holy One worked wonders,
With those no longer limited by their natural ability,
And richly empowered by the industrious Spirit.
They placed their trust and dependency in the power of holy love.
The Spirit builds up our faith ever lovingly.
He develops for us a wise understanding of God’s ways, Through a most precious friendship with the Lord Jesus.
“This was the LORD’s doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.” (Psalm 118 v 23)
The Spirit keeps us praying, so believing.
He upbuilds love in our hearts and minds.
He keeps us safe even in the face of enemy attack.
The Spirit ensures we lack no good thing
In our will, our efforts to be faithful servants,
Who know, love and serve through a warm relationship with Jesus.
Every grace and blessing is made our own, marvellously,
With many a sound reason found through Christ Jesus we can rejoice openly.
“Open to me the gates of righteousness; I will go through them and I will praise the LORD.” (Psalm 118 v 19, 20)
“I will praise You, for You have answered me, and have become my salvation.” (Psalm 118 v 21)
We cannot live without Your power, dearest Father, so please send Your Spirt of love upon us. We ask to receive of You so our joy may be full, full to overflowing, wherever we are in the kingdom of love the Lord Jesus has established, and is now relying upon the maintenance by His followers.
Father, we cannot love You except through loving each other, and we will do this properly only when we desire to be more like the Lord Jesus. He who comes from residing nearest to Your Father heart of love, being empowered by the Spirit of love.
Empower us please by the very same Spirit. Grant us the grace to be conformed by the Spirit to the closest possible likeness to the Lord Jesus, the Good Shepherd tending and caring for us, being also the Prince of Peace and King of Glory.
Glory is the power of holy love alive in the followers of the Lord Jesus, that the more we grow to become like Him, the fuller the blessings that flow day by day, such a help to our needy world.
Let us take the warmth of the Lord Jesus’ love to the downcast, the outcast, the needy, the depressed and despondent.
This warmth is found in the light of the gospel message, the truth of all holy love wins over to rebut satan and to develop a real understanding and appreciation of joy and peace.
Thank You for the sure foundation which our faith is built upon, the purpose of holy love always to renew our life day by faith filled day, days when true love is evident to us often unexpectedly and surprisingly. May we not forget to offer all thanks when this happens.
Let there be a decided gain in ground, the ground of Christian faith, reliant upon prayer, which invites the Lord Jesus to be acting with us and invokes the Holy Spirit as He trains us, corrects us, disciplines us, stretches us, all for the benefit of godly service.
May faith become an exciting journey of discovery thereby, a lifetime of rich fulfilment due to the friendship of the Lord Jesus and the outcome of relying upon the Holy Spirit of joy. Our expectancy will be rewarded.
Keep us praying in the face of any setback or disappointment, that we do not give up on our efforts to evangelise and give witness to the power of holy love. For “ ‘No one having put his (her) hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God’.” (Luke 9 v 62)
This teaches us there is no room for complacency if we are successful, nor for a change of heart or mind regarding faith’s outcome, if we hit a blank wall.
Our faith’s gainful service requires a clear focus of love, as the tool with which we work. Our attention is not to be diverted away from what we know is right in Your sight, holy Father. Lukewarm discipleship must have no place within our efforts, for the Spirit of love as gifted by Jesus, is all powerful.
“God gave the increase’.” (1 Corinthians 3 v 7) “For we are God’s fellow workers, God’s field...” (v 9) His upbuilding in faith’s joyous expectancy, a productive dependency, whereby “Let each one take heed how (s)he builds” (v 10) on faith’s hope.
The love of Jesus personally given, this is our hope. “For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Christ Jesus,” (v 11) alive in us, all thanks be to the salvation gifted at the †, and the fresh outpouring of the Spirit.
May the life of love the Lord Jesus offers to each believer, ever be anointed by the Spirit of love to be successfully, gainfully enriched and empowered. As we have had to learn, we need to help others to learn to live in the way the Lord Jesus has shown us.
By the Spirit, our Saviour Brother shows us that You are the Lord God of love, grace and extraordinary, life changing, uplifting hope and joy giving power. How truly majestic Your sovereignty is!
Richly indeed, we are blessed when heaven reaches down to earth in the Person and the Spirit of the Lord Jesus, to tenderly, graciously teach us with Your power of such steadfast loving kindness, a real joy for us to experience such hope is given, thank You.
May joy and expectancy always be a hallmark of our faith. “Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance.” (Psalm 42 v 5)
“The LORD will command His loving kindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me – a prayer to the God of my life.” (v 8) Keep us please, ever praying. Then we see the rich blessings flowing, thank You. Amen.
