“God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.” (1 John 4 v 16 NLT)
Oh the goodness, the grace we access
By praying to, through and with the Lord Jesus.
We must pray to ask for divine help,
For our society is in urgent need of healing.
Who better to be our Healer,
Than God’s very own Son, the Lord Jesus, our Saviour!
His intervention always results in love.
Holy love in all its extraordinary power,
Put to best use and many a godly purpose.
This purpose is for society to become holy.
We are made whole in God’s love for us,
As shown by the Lord Jesus, our Saviour Brother.
“And this is His commandment: we must believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.” (1 John 3 v 23 NLT)
The command is made known by the Third Person of the Trinity.
The Holy Spirit is the acuity of holy love.
He teaches us the truth we find in the Lord Jesus,
A truth showing us our fallen condition
And the urgent necessity to seek to find an answer.
Jesus is the perfect answer our Father provides.
He hides us within the sphere of His love’s influence,
The safest, securest, happiest place to be.
Pray and ask for the help of our Saviour Brother
And He intervenes by His Holy Spirit,
Not necessarily immediately, but carefully over time.
“Do not love the world or the things of the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him (her).” (1 John 2 v 15)
Therefore we need to keep praying and praying,
That we are fully alert to discern the Spirit’s movements. He will be sent to gain us wisdom and understanding.
The best Counsellor ever comes from our Saviour, According to the grace of our Father’s favour.
The Lord God of all holiness reaches out for us.
Abhorring all evil, the Lord God favours us when we pray. Prayer carries our intentions to heaven.
In so doing we are seeking a blessing,
A stamp and seal of approval.
The zeal of the Holy Spirit is at work.
“Those who obey God’s commandments remain in fellowship with Him, and He with them. And we know that He lives in us because the Spirit He gives us lives in us.” (1 John 3 v 24 NLT)
At work showing us the power in the Lord Jesus’ love for us,
That love which comes straight from the Father’s heart. Then we start to view life through another lens.
The lens of love is like putting on a pair of glasses.
Whereby we can see every blot, stain and blemish upon life,
Wishing to eradicate this by our efforts to make new.
When love is in all we think, desire, plan, decide,
When love is in every idea we form and speak of wisely,
Then holy love is in the ascendancy.
The Lord Jesus is clearly alive in us,
His Spirit motivating and dedicating our efforts to love.
Christ Jesus favours us, His faithful, faith filled family,
Helping us to continue to pray, so the results are always godly, praising our Father.
“When she (wisdom) speaks, her words are wise and kindness is the rule for everything she says.” (Proverbs 31 v 26 TLB)
“Abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before His coming.” (1 John 2 v 28)
Lord Jesus, we know that You will return at the end of time, and we must make ready for this event. It will involve the entirety of humanity.
It is vital therefore that we lead a righteous life now, so as to be able to face the day of judgement without feeling terrified.
The incredible love You show us and Your Spirit develops in us, shows that we belong to the Trinity of love and mercy. May we waste no opportunity to show this to none believers through the love we offer them.
Thank You that when we pray, our Father, through You, by the Spirit, blesses all our efforts, and godliness results to the hope, peace and increase of joy in society.
One day we will stand before the throne of judgment, and all we have said and done will be seen in the light of truth. May we not be found wanting because we live through You.
“All who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure just as You are pure.” (based on 1 John 3 v 3 NLT) Let us no longer break God’s law of love by sinning.
All God’s laws can be summed up in the command to love God as we show love for each other, putting their needs and wishes before our own. Such is the sacrificial nature of love.
This is the love You showed us perfectly, Lord Jesus, in accepting the † of punishment for sin, our sin, that forgiveness is won, restitution having been made.
We know that You come to take away our sin, and there is no sin in You at all. You came, You lived, You died, You rose again, all to make us holy.
As the Holy Spirit corrects, guides and safeguards us by presenting holy wisdom and truth to us, if we continue to live in You, through You, alert to the Spirit, we will not sin.
Let us pray to this end, the happy finale of this life being to pass through the grave, the valley of the shadow of death, to the fuller, eternal life beyond.
Oh what a blessed hope Your life of love, sacrificial death and glorious resurrection offer to us. When we do what is right, others can see You are alive in us.
If we keep on sinning, we belong to satan and that is catastrophic. You came to destroy the works of evil, enabling us to make efforts to love because You live in us, by Your Spirit.
Oh what a most marvellous plan of salvation! Redeemer Lord, You are our life, our hope, our belief and our trust. Thank You for Your love.
This is the power of holy love which calls forth love in all holiness. “Those who have been born into God’s family” (1 John 3 v 9 NLT) do not make a practise of sinning.
No, we live a better way, Your way of love, Lord Jesus. Thank You for sending Your Spirit to make this possible for us. To belong to You means we know what true love is.
This is the message our faith has taught us, “We should love one another,” (v 11) for we are passing from death to life, from fear and doubt to certainty and hope, from despair to joy.
We know what real love is because You gave up Your life for us. “So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.” (v 16) Please help us with this.
May the Spirit equip us to live prayerfully, reverent and fully obedient to our efforts to love, that which our Father continually asks of us.
May we give of our best, time, skills, talents and resources to help those in any sort of need, not merely talking about love, but acting in love. “Let us show the truth by our actions.” (v 18)
Let us never ignore the power of prayer. “We will receive from Him whatever we ask because we obey Him and do the things that please Him.” (v 22)
“And as we live in God,” in the Lord Jesus, by means of the Holy Spirit, “Our love grows more perfect,” (1 John 4 v 17 NLT) all thanks, all praise and all glory ever be to the all holy Trinity.
“So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face Him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.” (v 17)
This evidence in our efforts to love is the perfect love dispelling fear, all manner of doubt, uncertainty and insecurity which bedevils none believers, afraid of punishment and annihilation.
Holy love in all its incredible power is life offering, new life giving, a sure blessing, a sheer delight, a gracious free gift obtained through belief in the Lord Jesus and the openness to the Holy Spirit.
May prayer undergird all our efforts to love, living an honourable, God praising, happy and holy life, striving after holiness, developing the fruit of the Spirit.
“May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all.” (based on 2 Corinthians 13 v 4)
Thank You for inviting us to lead a life of love, for graciously gifting us the means to do so, guiding and safeguarding us in Your power of love, a love so holy it is perfect.
We claim this love, name this love, pray and offer all thanks for this love. Love will conquer all that is evil as we are invited to live in Christ Jesus, with Him in us by the Spirit of holiness.
“Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakeable, let us be thankful and please God by worshipping Him with holy fear and awe. For our God is a devouring fire,” (Hebrews 12 v 28 NLT) of love, perfect love, which is our holiness and joyous happiness.
“I will praise You, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvellous things You have done. I will be filled with joy because of You, I will sing praises to Your name, Most High.” (Psalm 9 v 1, 2 NLT)
