“Even though I disobeyed the law, I have to admit that it is good and was given by God for my welfare.” Romans 7 v 16 The Truth
Come, Holy Spirit of counsel, come,
That all the errors of my ways
Be effectively undone.
I do try, sometimes really try,
To do as I know I should, could.
But the world, my own inclinations
And clearly the adversary’s interference and deception,
Get all too readily in the way of my determination.
This blocks my intentions.
“The law was not the problem, the fault was actively mine.” Romans 7 v 14 The Truth
Then my effort does not even
Get up off the ground at all.
I ask for a new found resolve
To be as the Lord Jesus asks of me,
To do as He or You or our Father,
Will set as a task for me.
I do not want to fail in this,
But clearly merely wanting is insufficient.
I need perseverance and determination.
“I kept on sinning and doing what was evil in God’s eyes.” Romans 7 v 19
Please, please help me.
Take me one step forwards at a time,
That I do not become overwhelmed.
Not by difficulty, nor disappointment,
For that can be another setback.
Make please, my failures into stepping stones
Where I go not slowly, but very carefully,
One step at a time progressively.
I really do need help with this.
“To sin persistently in this way demonstrated that I was motivated by the sinful disposition that lived in me.” Romans 7 v 20 The Truth
I need help that I do what I will to do,
In the way asked of me, entirely.
No more of me, my way, my agenda.
In my friendship with the Lord Jesus,
Please help me to honour our Father,
And of course, my Brother Saviour, my Teacher,
Together with You, Holy Spirit, Lord,
Striving to be the best I can be,
Which of course, is to become holy.
“The problem is this principle of sin that lived in me. I felt under its control and knew that nothing good lived in me, that is in my natural being.” Romans 7 v 17 The Truth
“I came to realise that in my natural state I am unspiritual, a slave to sin and disobedience.” Romans 7 v 14
Romans 7 v 17 The Truth. “For even though I wanted to do what is right, I was powerless to obey. I ended up doing the very thing I was determined not to do.”
1 John 2 v 7 The Truth. Come, Holy Spirit, come, help us please. For although we know the law both morally and legally is correct, we fail its high standards. Let us then pray repentingly, remorsefully, to set the record straight and seek at all times Your wisdom and guidance to lead us into all the blessed holiness the Lord Jesus offers to share with us. I dare to ask this believing “If we walk in the Light, just as He is in the Light, we share His life together and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin, from everything that we have done against His will,” mercifully, Holy Spirit, Lord, “Guide our steps by Your word,” that the Lord Jesus will lead us through forgiveness, to build up our resolve and strength to live a spiritual life, a life truly honouring and pleasing to our Father. A life which will daily offer all glory to the life enhancing Trinity as, like Jesus’ other disciples, try to consecrate the world to You by a godly, all loving, reverent, obedient example. Based on Psalm 119 v 133.
1 Corinthians 8 v 1. Forgive please the striving after sole independence for this is foolish and the “Knowledge (which) puffs up.” Gift us instead, that power of wisdom and understanding by means of Your counsel, so we learn to live according to that “Love (which) edifies” (Cont.) and glorifies.
I realise that it is feeling at peace with the Lord God, when we successfully endeavour to keep our hearts and minds at one with the Lord Jesus, which is of significance and real importance here. Holy Spirit, Lord, we all need Your daily input.
May we strive to put into practice every single point we have learned from the Lord Jesus’ example of how to act and react, how to approach life prayerfully, how to fully love and honour each other, how to live in full accord with our Father’s will.
As we pray then “ ‘Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done,” please, please grant us the resolve and ability to live out the words we speak, or else they are worthless. Lord’s prayer.
What a total tragedy if our life on earth be counted as worthless when the day of reckoning comes. Instead, I ask for the way and the truth of the Lord Jesus to so inspire us, this will fire our enthusiasm for becoming more and more like Him in all things.
Philippians 4 v 8, The Truth, “What, then, should fill our thoughts? Whatever is true and noble and pure in God’s eyes; what is pure and lovely to Him; what He admires, which is everything that is excellent and worthy of praise,” most notably a life led showing love to others, that we then, love, honour and obey our Father’s will, His name being hallowed.
Holy Spirit of Counsel, thank You for any progress I have made. Please keep me striving and moving forwards in my efforts to live in a truly godly way, through that most excellent gift of holy love, that which is fully virtuous.
“Above all, make Christ to be found in me, that I may dethrone self in my heart and make the Lord Jesus, my Saviour and my Brother, both Lord and King.” I ask the same for all followers of the King of Glory. Bishop Bloemfontein.
Let us all live by the incredible power of holy love, that one worry only remains, and that is that we think, desire, do and say anything that should dishonour You, Father, Son and Holy Spirit of Counsel. Amen.
