“In truth I tell you once again, if two of you on earth agree to ask for anything at all, it will be granted to you by My Father in heaven. For where two or three meet in My name, I am there among them’.” (Matthew 18 v 19, 20 TNJB)
Two of us in Jesus, praying,
Granted a grace so tremendous!
And yesterday was earmarked especially
For ‘All Souls’, made to be mercifully,
The family the Lord Jesus reaches out for.
‘The family who prays together,
Stays together’ the old adage says.
For we are all made one in Christ Jesus,
“He is the God who created the world and everything in it...It is He who determined when and where they should all live. His purpose in doing this was to encourage us to seek to know Him, to reach out to Him, although He is not difficult to find as He is not far from each one of us.” (Acts 17 v 24, 26, 27 The Truth)
Even those who have gone before us,
Passed on to another place, most be prayed for.
In love’s warmest embrace of mercy,
We are gifted a Brother who is Saviour.
It is incumbent upon us to pray to Him.
To pray for each other, brother and sister,
Whether living or dead and moved on,
On to another place beyond our mortal, but not spiritual reach.
“Because we live in the presence of this God, every move we make is known to Him, and we are dependent upon Him for our very being... ‘We are His offspring’.” (Acts 17 v 28 The Truth)
We pray and life is not beyond our spiritual reach.
We must pray for both the living and the dead,
So not one of us is lost to love,
The holy love of Jesus gifted as our Saviour.
Our Brother is sins’ Redeemer.
By belief in this we are restored to every one,
-And there are too many to count– of the blessings.
Of God our Father, the Lord of mercy.
“...trusting that the Lord will work in us, causing us to repent and come to a full acceptance of the truth. Then we will escape the devil’s trap that captures people, causing them to do his will.” (based on 2 Timothy 2 v 25, 26 The Truth)
No one must remain in purgatory.
We must, must pray, now today and every day.
Pray for the beloved passed beyond life before us.
Pray for the mercy of the † of our forgiveness
To be placed upon us, all who accept Jesus.
Pray for non-believers to seek wisdom and truth,
And pray for us to ever seek holiness,
In the mercy shown to us in Christ Jesus.
“Confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another to be cured; the heartfelt prayer of someone upright works very powerfully.” (James 5 v 16 TNJB)
“ ‘Forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven those who are in debt to us. And do not put us to the test, but save us from the evil one.” (Matthew 6 v 12, 13 TNJB)
Please pray for God’s mercy to be upon all souls, saints and sinners, living and dead, for we are asked to “Pray without ceasing,” (1 Thessalonians 15 v 17) and importantly “In everything giving thanks,” (Cont) with confidence, trust and assurance of this power of love.
“For had we not expected the fallen to rise again, it would have been superfluous and foolish to pray for the dead, whereas if we had in view the splendid recompense reserved for those who make a pious end, the thought was holy and devout.” (2 Maccabees 12 v 44, 45 TNJB)
Please pray to proclaim our belief in the expiatory sacrifice the Lord Jesus offers on the † for both the living and the dead in Purgatory, a place of final cleansing that we be fully released from sin, as the process was undertaken by Jesus for us, at the †.
Please pray, interceding for those who have died, knowing that the merits of the exemplary life of Jesus, sacrificed at the †for our sins’ forgiveness, serves to attain salvation, the Lord Jesus’ saving help for us.
Please pray also in all praise of appreciation for those who have led a good, upright and holy life, following the Lord Jesus’ example as closely as possible, their reward being the joy of heaven, that which awaits all who are made holy in Jesus by the Holy Spirit.
Please pray because “We want you to be quite certain about those who have fallen asleep, to make sure that you do not grieve for them, as they do who have no hope.” (1 Thessalonians 4 v 13 TNJB)
Affirmed by faith, continue to pray “We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and that in the same way God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 4 v 14 TNJB)
“Christ has been raised from the dead, as the first-fruit of all who have fallen asleep. As it was by one man death came, so through one Man has come the resurrection of the dead. Just as all die in Adam, so in Christ all will be brought to life.” (1 Corinthians 15 v 20, 21, 22 TNJB)
Yes, please pray for all souls, “And for all things give thanks; this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5 v 18 TNJB) So “Do not stifle the Spirit,” (v 19) for He helps us to pray, especially if we are lost for words.
Will not the time spent in heaven be an accolade for the time well spent on earth, praying? Please, please pray for “Grace and mercy await His chosen ones and He intervenes on behalf of His holy ones.” (Wisdom 4 v 15 TNJB) How vital it is to pray, both for the living and the dead, the loved and the lost.
Immortality is the gift God bestows upon all who believe in the Lord Jesus, accept Him as Saviour, seeking to live a holy life led by the Spirit, an accomplishment bestowed not merited, a blessing to be sought after in prayer.
Please pray that this Christian hope places a quiet, assured confidence into the hearts and upon the minds of the sorrowing and the bereaved. For our Father is the God of the living, through the mercy shown us in Christ Jesus, made evident and relevant to us by the Holy Spirit as we become united with our Saviour, God’s Word and promise of life eternal.
Lord, we thank and praise You that “A continual looking forward to the eternal world is not a form
of escapism or wishful thinking, but one of the things a Christian is meant to do.” (C.S. Lewis) For we have put our trust in the living hope of the risen Lord. All thanks ever be for our new and eternal life, blessed by the living presence of the Lord Jesus and the anointing Spirit. May no souls be lost to our Father’s gifted mercy.
Please pray to commemorate all who have departed this life. “Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.”
