“In You, O LORD, I put my trust. Let me never be put to shame. Deliver me in Your righteousness ...You have given the commandment to save me...” (Psalm 71 v 1, 2, 3)
All that is good, holy, honourable, truly worthy,
Is Yours, dearest Father, shared lovingly with us,
Through the life, death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus,
As illuminated to us by the Holy Spirit of love.
What grace, what goodness, what loveliness we see
In holy wisdom and truth shaping our new identity.
What joyous beauty there is in a life given to Jesus,
A life of holiness, of righteousness, sharing His infinite merits. What happiness we experience in the true peace
Which is the result of our sin’s release by forgiveness.
“Of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God – and righteousness and sanctification and redemption...” (1 Corinthians 1 v 30)
Release happens at the †of Jesus, the †of forgiveness blesses us. What hope too, through our Saviour Brother,
Inviting us by His Spirit, to become more like Him.
This is a win, win situation and we rejoice.
Rejoice in the choice of a life given to Jesus.
We enter into His holiness, the eternal goodness,
The graced presence of God with us, amongst us,
Active and made effective by the Spirit of holiness.
The access point is always in a life prayerfully given to Jesus,
For the results lead to an unsurpassed, contented happiness.
“Life has value only in giving it, in giving it in love, in truth, in giving it to others, in daily life, in the family.” (Pope Francis)
“ ‘(S)he who glories, let him (her) glory in the LORD’.” (1 Corinthians 1 v 31)
Yes, “Let us keep praying ever to be praising and thanking for the difference to life we experience when we give our life to You Lord Jesus. For here we have no continuing city” (Hebrews 13 v 14) no everlasting life, “But we seek the one to come,” in You Lord Jesus.
“Therefore by You let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.” (based on v 15)
O Lord, how often I long to spend quality time with You. I am so grateful to be able to do this every morning before the day’s activities begin.
An awareness of Your presence is so vital to me, being tied up with my sense of wellbeing. And I know that when I get busy, I allow far too long to pass without thinking of You.
I am sorry for this impairment to our friendship. You are my worship and I should worship our Father more than I do, so my everyday thoughts should be filled with You.
Life has so any ups and downs: I would like to always celebrate the ups with You. During the sadder or more worrying times I need to feel Your closeness to carry me through.
Then of course, when fortune frowns in a significantly troubling way, it is essential that I pray. Please keep sending me the Holy Spirit to help me to pray in the right way.
What is the right way day by day when there are so many methods and modes of prayer? Perhaps any way is correct as long as it comes from the heart, for we are taught that “The path of the
godly leads to life.”
(Proverbs 12 v 28 TLB) Lord Jesus, Your presence is that life.
Thank You for coming to us, for teaching us, for all that You mean to us as our Saviour, and the Lord God’s Word of Life. I would be lost without this knowledge and experience.
Lord Jesus, it troubles me that many nowadays, do not even know of You, let alone know You as the best Friend, and the One sent by our Father to be with us always.
I pray for their experience of life to be changed. I ask therefore that Your Spirit softens their hearts and makes ready their minds in order to meet You. May they have a personal encounter with You.
How well I remember the shocked joy and excitement the first time I knew for sure that You are not only alive, but interested and involved in our wellbeing. What a delightful discovery, thank You.
It came about by a friend gently, but persistently, pressing me to come to a meeting place where those who worship You were gathered. I resisted for quite a while.
Then, I imagine this to be the work of Your Spirit received at baptism and at confirmation, plus regularly in holy communion, a miraculous occasion, but also as the result of prayer.
Anyway, something (or someone!) drove me to the meeting, and the outcome was glorious, Your friendship remaining with me from then on. This is of the highest value to me and I am so grateful.
This is the hope, the sense of peace and the joy I would like others to experience. O Lord, please help this to Happen. Send Your Spirit to prepare their hearts and minds to make ready to receive You.
Today is Sunday, my favourite day for more time is spent in worship. I offer You my day and all that is going to be in it, asking for this to be combined with Your Sacred Heart of love.
This is the true love which delights and honours our Father. I would like to honour Him too, so ask that anything worthwhile that I might achieve, is united with Your infinite merits and is presented as worship.
I realise that “Understanding is a wellspring of life” (Proverbs 16 v 22) to us, so ask that today, I make better progress in my attempts to be more continuously aware of You.
Let me see this and offer thanks for all aspects of Your loving kindness towards me, for all the times Your Spirit cheers me on when I feel downcast, and of course, for every opportunity to pray and deepen my faith.
“A (wo)man of understanding walks uprightly.” (Proverbs 15 v 21) Lord Jesus, be that understanding according to the working of Your Spirit, for all who love and know You as Saviour. There is no higher way than this to delight our Father.
We taste of the joy of Your Presence as the Divine Healer and we know peace of heart and mind through forgiveness. The virtuous find their way to heaven in You, alongside of You, Lord.
Pleases remain with us, in and amongst on this lifetime pilgrimage, bringing us finally home to our Father where, forever we will praise the wondrous miracle working, life blessing Trinity.
“You will show us the path of life,” (Psalm 16 v 11) thank You. “In Your presence is fullness of joy,” (Cont) we praise You. “At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore,” (Cont) as You gift us Your Spirit of love, helping us to pray.
In You we find all that is good holy, honourable, truly worthy and well worth seeking daily, for this is the love gift of the Lord God, given through You, by the Holy Spirit.
Never let us spurn this nor take it for granted. May we not be casual nor careless about our faith’s journey, because You make saints out of sinners as holy wisdom and truth shape our identity as people who belong to You.
Lord Jesus, I give my life to You to do as You will, hoping to develop a better likeness to You. I know this is a tall order, so ask for the anointing of Your Spirit daily. I thank You in advance for any progress I make. Amen.
