“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in your faith, so that in the power of the Holy Spirit you may be rich in hope.”
Romans 15 v 13
“Blessed assurance Jesus is mine,
Oh what a foretaste of glory divine.” (Fanny Crosby)
Christ’s presence is a fine, fine promise indeed,
the hope of God’s glory evident, prevalent,
becoming our human story as and when
we choose to peruse the gospel message, receive it and believe it.
“Since in the wisdom of God the world was unable to recognise God through wisdom, it was God’s own pleasure to save believers through the folly of the gospel. While the Jews demand miracles and the Greeks look for wisdom, we are preaching a crucified Christ : to the Jews an obstacle they cannot get over, to the gentiles foolishness.”
1 Corinthians 1 v 21-23
Jesus, the Saviour, the Messiah, the Anointed One,
appointed by God to bring hope to the world
“Jesus Christ the revelation of a mystery
kept secret for endless ages
but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures
made known to all nations,” (Romans 16 v 26) praise God!
“According to the commandment of the everlasting God,”
Christ alone is the full revelation of God’s truth.
“To those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ (is) the power of God and the wisdom of God.”
1 Corinthians 1 v 24
“God, who at various times and in various ways
spoke in times past to the fathers by the prophets,
has in these last days spoken to us by His Son,
whom He has appointed, heir of all things” (Hebrews 1 v 1)
to bring us to a faith full, joy full, hope full life.
“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.”
Romans 8 v 1, 2
We are in Christ most gloriously set free to be the children God intended us to be.
“I am the LORD, I change not,” ( Malachi 3 v 6) God says.
God’s plan began before time was set in motion,
had always been for us to enjoy fullness of life.
But the strife of sin separated us from the promise.
How wonderful that God in His mercy had a plan.
A solution, a resolution leading to our redemption.
“Christ Jesus who became for us wisdom from God – and righteousness and sanctification and redemption.”
1 Corinthians 1 v 30
Praise ever be that God sees me set sin free in Christ.
I am “Found in Him” by God’s loving decree
“Not having my own righteousness, which is from the law,
but that which is through faith in Christ,
the righteousness which is from God by faith.” (Philippians 3 v 9)
Unlikely as this may be, unthinkable even, certainly not impossible!
“For with God nothing will be impossible.” (Luke 1 v 37)
“God who is rich in mercy,
because of His great love with which He loved us,
even when we were dead in trespasses,
made us alive together with Christ
(by grace you have been saved)
and raised us up together,
and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”
Ephesians 2 v 4, 5, 6
Yes, it was for freedom that Christ has set us free.
“That in the ages to come He (the Father)
might show the exceeding riches of His grace
in His kindness towards us in Christ Jesus.
For by grace you have been saved, through faith,
and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2 v 7, 8)
Praise be, praise be, praise be for His mercy, the gift of God.
“Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.”
Romans 15 v 33
“He went to the cross, where man’s utter despair collided with God’s unbending grace.”
Max Lucado “The Applause of Heaven”
“But now, thus says the LORD, who created you ...’Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine’.” ( Isaiah 43 v 1) “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation.” (1 Peter 1 v 3, 4, 5)
All glory and thanks ever be to You mercifully loving, compassionate Father. We were “Like sheep going astray, but now” – by faith in the gift of God – “Have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of our souls.” (based on 1 Peter 2 v 25) “For Christ suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God.” (1 Peter 3 v 18) In Christ, “God has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them we may participate in the divine nature.” ( based on 2 Peter 1 v 4)
“Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.” “Let all those rejoice who put their trust in You,” (Joshua 23 v 14) merciful Father; “Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; let those also who love Your name be joyful in You. For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; with favour You will surround him (and her) as with a shield.”
(Psalm 5 v 11, 12
) “The LORD gives freedom to the prisoners,” ( Psalm 146 v 7) all those bound captive by sin. “You shall surround me with songs of deliverance...(S)he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him/her ...Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous; and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!” ( Psalm 32 v 7, 11) “Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in
heart.” (Psalm 97 v 11) The gift of God is loving, merciful, compassionate grace, You blessing us in Christ, Father. “No matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ, and so through Him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God.” ( 2 Corinthians 1 v 20) All praise ever be! Amen.
