“ ‘And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all people to Me’.”
John 12 v 32
The altar of the †of Jesus
Cancels the offences of our sinfulness.
The victory of redemption history
Is remembered, recalled accurately, consistently,
By Jesus living not only in our memory.
The healing grace of salvation opens up before us
A new destination due to the †.
Having been made righteous in Jesus,
The offence of our sinfulness is cancelled out.
With joy we claim and acclaim Jesus,
The Conqueror over all that did beset us.
“ ‘No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven’.”
John 3 v 13
In exultation we rejoice at our salvation.
Through the saving power of Christ Jesus,
His passion leading Him to the †,
The wondrous power of holy love becomes our peace.
For us, Jesus was nailed to the life redeeming †.
Herein is the victory over all our iniquity.
Love’s holy victim crucified, at the † Jesus died.
Wounded, bleeding in agony, Jesus died for you and me.
Cruel mockery in the crown of thorns
Adorns the sacred brow how torment is advanced.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
John 3 v 16
How vicious our humanity against Christ’s divinity.
No sympathy nor any pity.
Blow after vicious blow had struck our Lord,
All to afford us liberty by His victory.
Savage nails piercing hands and feet,
Scorn, mockery too, what utter humiliation.
Did our Saviour Brother meet the horror complete.
Lord God from above carrying wounded love,
To prevent sin’s harm inflicted upon us.
Holy is love, holy and strong,
We belong to the heavenly immortal One!
“ ‘Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; (s)he who walks in darkness does not know where (s)he is going. While you have the light, believe in the light so you may become sons (daughters) of light’.”
John 12 v 35, 36
Thank God for the resounding victory.
The altar of the †of Jesus,
Re-presents to us the holy Eucharist.
The gift of Jesus’ body and blood
Is the reality of His dying for humanity.
Iniquity has been conquered remarkably,
The Lord Jesus lived and died on the † for us.
We receive of Him, His most precious body and blood,
Laid out for us on the altar of the †.
Receive and believe all this gift secures for us.
“ ‘(S)he who believes in Me, believes not in Me, but in Him who sent Me’.” John 12 v 44
“ ‘I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness’.”
John 12 v 46
O Lord, spare us from sin, from the darkness of our moral depravity wherein we are ignorant of divine truth. Jesus came to put life straight, to rescue us from sinfulness.
We need to receive of the Lord Jesus at the altar of the †, so as to receive healing by cleansing of all our sinfulness.
Forgive please, all that is within us which is at enmity with You. So often we go our own solo way without prayerful consultations with the Lord Jesus, by the Spirit.
Let us endeavour to be stronger in our seeking to share in holy wisdom and that truth which we hear and see at work in the Lord Jesus.
Jesus is mankind’s role model. Thank You for making Him an Intercessor between heaven and earth, able to claim the victory of the † on behalf of our righteousness.
May the Spirit of Jesus put us on our guard by reminding us that salvation is a spiritual battle we dare undertake only when close to Jesus.
We must realise what sin has done to us. satan “Has blinded our eyes and hardened our hearts, lest we should see with our eyes, lest we should understand with our hearts and turn so that we would be healed.” (based on John 12 v 40)
This situation is catastrophically serious as secularism is spreading amongst us. May the Spirit of faith come in all power and persuasion that Jesus, the Light of the world, is the One we must turn to.
There is no other way, Jesus is the way forwards to seek and find holiness. Thank You that in Jesus, especially in the Eucharist, we find grace, blessing and healing.
May many, many more become empowered by the Holy Spirit, to seek, find and adhere to the healing love of the Lord Jesus. It must not be that He suffered the agony of the † in vain.
“You have broken the teeth of the ungodly. Salvation belongs to the LORD. Your blessing is upon Your people,” (Psalm 3 v 7, 8) who live to belong to the Lord Jesus.
Thank You for the multiple blessings of the holy Eucharist. “You, O LORD, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head,” (v3) and I long for others to share in this.
“Let all those who seek You...” (Psalm 70 v4) find You in Jesus, by means of the Spirit. Then they will “Rejoice and be glad in You.” (Cont)
“And let all those who love Your salvation say continually, ‘Let God be magnified, glorified, honoured and esteemed’,” (v4) especially in our receiving of the Lord Jesus in holy communion.
For Your judgements “Are true and righteous altogether,” (Cont) and we learn this through making the Lord Jesus our Saviour. Indeed “More to be desired are they than gold, yes much fine gold, sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.” (Psalm 19 v10)
“Moreover by them Your servant is warned and in keeping them there is great reward,” (v11) that of righteous holiness. Who would not want this?
Dearest Father, in our receiving of the Lord Jesus as Saviour, “Cleanse us from secret faults. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over us.” (v 12, 13 the singular invocation changed to plural)
It is in living with Jesus alive and active within us we become blameless, “Innocent of great transgressions,” (Cont.) wiser, more fruitful in holiness. By this may the world be enriched. I ask in the knowledge of the blessings bestowed by the †of the Lord Jesus, offering all thanks for the †of salvation, our life’s transformation. Amen.
