“It is God Himself who enables...us to stand firm in Christ, for He Himself anointed each of us personally, thus setting His seal of ownership upon us by placing His own Spirit in our hearts. This wonderful deposit that we have received from Him is a guarantee of what is to come, our full inheritance.” (2 Corinthians 1 v 21, 22)
Blessed be a life spent prayerfully,
For prayer is meant to be
Us put in touch with reality.
This reality is the Holy Trinity,
One God in Three Persons,
Each of whom separately,
And together in love’s unity,
Wish to bless us with happiness.
The finest, fullest, richest happiness
Is found in one place only,
That is in accepting the working of the Holy Spirit,
Who strives to introduce us to,
Then ever deepen our friendship with the Lord Jesus.
All thanks be to the Holy Spirit,
The Counsellor, Adviser, Paraclete,
As He enables us to meet with our Saviour.
For you see, happiness is reliant upon us,
Our awareness of how vital holiness is.
It is the Holy Spirit who alerts us.
“Holy Spirit, soul of my soul, I adore Thee; enlighten, guide, strengthen and console me; tell me what I ought to do and command me to do it...” (Cardinal Mercier)
Thankfully, when we pray He never deserts us.
But time and again the Spirit reminds us
Of the meaning and purpose of life,
As given by our Father and driven forwards
By the Holy Spirit’s wisest help and support
So we become fully caught up in love.
We need to be head and heels in love with Christ Jesus. Humanly speaking this is an impossibility,
For divinity would remain far out of reach,
If it were not for the Spirit who will teach.
But look to the Adviser to begin His work
And by prayer and practice holiness becomes available to us, As ever we share everything with the Lord Jesus.
Our life has to be united to His Sacred Heart,
And rely upon the merits the Lord Jesus wins for us, Notably at the †of our forgiveness,
When all our shame and blame for sin
Is so lovingly, so very mercifully done away with.
We begin again in the love Jesus offers us through the Spirit.
“Through Christ Jesus a different principle now lives in me, a new law: the Spirit of Life. He has set me free from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8 v 2 The Truth)
“Under the law I could not do what God wanted because of my weak, sinful nature. God dealt with that by sending His own Son to become Man, to live among sinners and then to make His life a sinless offering to God on their behalf.” (Romans 8 v 3 The Truth)
O Lord God, heavenly Father, what an amazing work of grace You have planned, purposed and instituted. All thanks ever be for our new life in Christ Jesus, here amongst us by the Holy Spirit.
You ask us to pray. You help us to learn how to do so through our close, highly prized friendship with Your Son. You send us the Holy Spirit to aid us and our entire world is changed.
We desire to see the entire world become consecrated to You, through Your Son’s holiness, by which You forgive us our sinfulness then continue to bless us, sending the Holy Spirit to help us put godly teaching into practise willingly, prayerfully. If this is not mercy, I do not know what is.
We are spiritually led to offer our day to the Lord Jesus, to make something good out of this, according to the invaluable working of the Holy Spirit of faith.
So we learn to join every aspect of our life, the good, the bad and the many worries, umpteen challenges to be overcome, to the exemplary life of the Lord Jesus, as we call Him ‘Lord and Saviour’.
This could not, would not happen unless our faith was brought to be fully alive through holy love and forgiveness, as shown us by Your Son and made real to us by Your Spirit.
“Blessed be God. Blessed be Your holy name” (based on the Divine Praises) as Father, Protector, Deliverer, Provider, the One who seeks to daily bless us by means of the sacraments.
We have to work to be made holy and You reach out to us tangibly in each of the holy sacraments, Lord God of mercy. I thank and praise You for who You are and all You do for us sacramentally especially.
To become united to You through the perfect life and sacrificial death of Your Son, made real and relevant to us as the Holy Spirit touches us, this is such an amazing, most incredible blessing, thank You.
All those things which are impossible for us working, striving alone, become possible when we are united with our Saviour Brother, according to the blessed working of the Holy Spirit of change.
Perhaps most notably is how we become prayer warriors and undertake to combat satan successfully, knowing where the victory lies, in the Lord Jesus, our Divine Healer.
It is then, we are apt to ask for help from the Holy Spirit of life whom our Brother shares so willingly with us, so we can be a people of hope who radiate joy.
Let us then suppress the world’s misery, its despair, its desperation, for whenever we suffer affliction or persecution, the Holy Spirit will enable us to bear it patiently as long as we are prayerful.
May we be faithful to prayer, allowing this to shape our intentions and decisions, that they always be most generous in love and full of compassion for any hardship.
Let us strive after holiness for the Lord Jesus is our worship, we have become His body on earth, active as today’s disciples, rejoicing with those who are happy, sharing the grief of others sincerely.
May the Holy Spirit ever make us alert and attentive, patient, sympathetic and empathetic to the lives of each other, especially our family and those we meet. May we become catalysts for change by introducing the Lord Jesus as our trusted Friend, beloved Companion, but also Saviour, Lord and Master, very well able to lead us through life by calling on the Holy Spirit.
May the Holy Spirit, as we pray, equip us to live harmoniously, in unity with all who share life with us, for we are wanting to show the power of holy love and all it accomplishes for our welfare.
Let us do away with pride, with hurt, with unforgiveness when offended and never seek to retaliate. We must live according to the principles of the Lord Jesus’ teaching which can all be summed up in one word, ‘Love.’
I ask that this love, the love we share with the Lord Jesus, is evident at all times, in all we say and do, offer and give, as we are to learn to be none critical and not judgmental.
For the saying is so true which states ‘There but for the grace of God, go I’. We have to strive to become holy, it does not come naturally, for we are all self-centred. Forgive us Lord, forgive us.
May sin not convict us because by the many blessings of the Holy Spirit, we belong to the Lord Jesus, the One full of that grace and truth which He lovingly imparts to us.
Therefore, committed to become His brothers and sisters, prayer warriors, overcomers, may all that is evil be driven out before us and never hold the upper hand in life. For belonging to the world’s Saviour and blessed to become alert to the Holy Spirit, the power of holy love in all its many guises, will defeat evil as we live in the good of all the Lord Jesus lovingly accomplished.
“He succeeded where we had all failed miserably, so that now we can live as if we had succeeded. His success has become our success, so long as we no longer live in the weakness of our old sinful nature, but now live led by and filled by Your Spirit.” (based on Romans 8 v 4 The Truth)
Praise be for this glory, Lord God, dearest Father, Your loving mercy granting us a Redeemer, ever with us by the Holy Spirit, to bless, guide and guard us that Your will be done. Amen.
