“Give the LORD His due, sons (daughters) of God, give the LORD His due to glory and strength, give the LORD the glory due His name, adore the LORD in the splendour of holiness.” (Psalm 29 v 1, 2 TNJB)
Head bowed in prayerful submission,
Is a token of permission given
Whereby we hope for the Lord God Almighty,
To act in this all loving mercy of His.
It is all a matter of living carefully, prayerfully,
Hoping the Trinity, almighty in love,
Will respond to our efforts to communicate.
For basically prayer is an entry into the realm,
Not of every day life, although we speak about this,
But entry into a profound spirituality.
Do you realise fully what you are doing when praying?
You are acknowledging yourself to be a son or a daughter Entirely subjected to the King of Glory.
In this submission you are placing yourself to be
Under the Lord God’s sovereign authority.
“Enlighten, guide, strengthen me; tell me what I ought to do and command me to do it.” (Cardinal Mercier)
Humility, trust and dependency are all a necessity.
Life will be as satisfactory as you pray for it to be,
Once you have made Jesus Lord and Master,
The One to take us forwards to the highest authority,
That of the Father of love and mercy.
The Lord Jesus accomplishes this by His Spirit.
We must never quench the Holy Spirit,
For He is the Spirit of fullness of life.
Whether our circumstances be good, bad or ugly,
When we pray and hand over control,
Then we feel more peaceful, more hopeful, more joyful.
Life is as happy as we pray for it to be holy.
Day by day let us pray for our world to be
A better, kinder, gentler, fairer, more happy place to inhabit.
For this was the intention of the Lord Jesus,
When He came to set up His kingdom amongst us.
“ ‘...for the earth is the LORD’s, and all its fullness’.” (1 Corinthians 10 v 26)
It is not providence which has impaired this,
But our greed and selfishness allowed to reign.
Let us start again, praying fervently in all sincerity,
Firstly praying repentingly for our part
In allowing or causing the impairment to God’s plan,
Asking for help through the Spirit of wisdom.
Let us heed the guidance He will give us,
Our correction always being in turning to
Or maybe returning to Jesus as Lord and Saviour,
As Master, as the Lord God’s offer of new life.
Then let us keep praying to put sins’ strife
Far, far, far away from us for we focus on Jesus.
The Master will bring us to both see and be
A part of His glory in a Kingdom of love,
Where mercy, justice and peace reign supreme.
“ ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins. For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one’.” (Luke 11 v 2, 3, 4)
But none of this can happen unless we continue to pray.
Pray in all humble, honest, submissive dependency.
Then we will see hope, peace and joy flourish.
That very joy the Lord Jesus comes to share with us,
In the descendancy, prayer by blessed prayer.
Prayer is where we access success that is holy
As often as we turn to the Spirit of Jesus,
Pleading, supplicating, interceding, ever asking,
But also seeking and searching for blessing by
Offering all praise and thanksgiving for prayer’s effectiveness, Guiding, guarding, safekeeping and supporting us.
That through the merciful love and forgiveness
Offered us from the Trinity of holy love,
We make good progress in the ways of holiness,
Despising sin so as to better develop our likeness to Jesus.
“A (wo)man’s heart plans his (her) way, but the LORD directs his (her) steps.” (Proverbs 16 v 9)
“Honest weights and scales are the LORD’s;
all the weights in the bag are His work.” (Proverbs 16 v 11)
May the Spirit of God be upon us, as Jesus promises.
His impact a godly influence upon our conscience,
To attract, inspire and enthuse us above and beyond everything worldly.
Come, Spirit of love from above, teach us prayerful submission.
Let Your love empower us, this is vital.
Let Your strength support us, for we fail independently.
Let Your power enable us, drawing us to the Lord Jesus.
Let Your wisdom safekeep us, for You are holy.
Let Your hand lead us, support us too.
Let You way direct us, moving forwards not slipping backwards.
Let Your mercy shield us, for our Father loves us.
Let Your presence delight us, excite us even.
Let Your goodness impress upon us, so we express holiness.
Holy Spirit, Lord, all that we let You accomplish for us starts with our turning to You in prayer, inviting You into the situation before we make decisions and act, hopefully always in the name of the Lord Jesus. Therefore we need to pray more diligently, always expectantly, listening with a disciple’s ear. Please help us to do this, for “The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD.” (Proverbs 16 v 33) Praise be for the glory of a life led prayerfully submissive. Amen.
