“He will be very gracious to you at the sounds of your cry; when He hears it He will answer you.” (Isaiah 30 v 19)
Pray! Pray to make ready for Christmas.
Pray today in whatever way you can.
Fortunately, God is not prescriptive.
Our Father’s wish is simply for our friendship.
Pray to know the Father better.
Find the answer in Christ Jesus,
His perfect holiness will be your worship.
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2 v 10)
Pray in appreciation.
Pray with dedication,
For veneration is called for prior to Christmas. Majestically God loves us.
He wants us to be family,
Continuously in the company of the Trinity.
There is but one way to gain this.
“Through the Word of Truth, He chose to give us new birth so that out of His whole creation we are those who come first, as His own children.” (James 1 v 18 The Truth)
Our access point is in Jesus,
In His effective friendship, born at Christmas,
Secured and assured by the Holy Spirit.
The merit will be and this daily,
A God given increase in our reverence.
This reverence requires deference,
Learned only by earnestly praying, making progress in holiness.
“So rid yourselves of everything that is morally corrupt and the evil that is so prevalent today. Instead, accept humbly the seed of God’s Word that has been planted in your heart, for this can save You.” (James 1 v 21 The Truth)
Pray, asking to obey!
Pray, not worrying anxiously,
This is not necessary.
For prayer fundamentally, is conversation.
A conversation based on love, true love,
Between us and the Trinity who love us fully!
Less will go amiss when we pray.
“My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praises. Awake, my glory!” (Psalm 57 v 7, 8)
Pray, handing over the reign of control,
For each and every day continuously.
Prayer is enabling our trust and dependency.
It is impossible to trust ourselves
To the unknown, not seen, not heard.
But the Lord Jesus is God’s living Word.
“ ‘I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also, and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” (John 14 v 6, 7)
He overcomes any thoughts of silence from heaven. Develop a prayerful friendship with Jesus,
Calling daily on the wisdom giving Holy Spirit.
The merit will be if persevering willingly,
An increase in the holiness Jesus offers us.
Pray then now, to make really ready for Christmas,
Not in a worldly way of excess, in so much that is unnecessary.
“...what holy and godly lives you should live as you await God’s Day and hasten its coming ... we await the new heaven and the new earth where only righteousness will exist... do all you can so He will find you spotless and without blemish...” (2 Peter 3 v 11-14 The Truth)
Pray to be in touch with God’s love and mercy.
Pray in anticipation of the Child born to Mary.
Pray and make ready for the blessings of the Nativity, Love come down amongst us, the love we call ‘Jesus’. There is no time like the present to pray!
Therefore resolve to pray and set about this now!
“...I press on that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.” (Philippians 3 v 12)
And if stuck for words as we certainly can be,
Simply sit reverently still, in silent admiration,
Giving all your concentration to the admiration of love from above.
Love being God’s message, love being His means,
Love is born to us at Christmas, in Christ Jesus.
What we need to do to receive is simply to pray!
“For since the beginning of the world men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen any God besides You, who acts for the one who waits for Him.” (Isaiah 64 v 4)
“No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.” (John 1 v 18)
Lord, whilst I was thinking about praying, asking myself where should I start, You put into my mind the teaching to ask for the wisdom we need. For You will show us the way to life, never failing to do this, because You are our Deliverer, Protector and Provider.
You wish graced love and joy to be ours, that we know peace through turning to the Lord Jesus as Saviour, calling on the Holy Spirit to help us to pray, to cause us to see the ned to pray.
For it is so vital that we all learn this: “ ‘For you are a holy people to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples who are on the face of the earth’.” (Deuteronomy 14 v 2)
How wonderful it would be if the Holy Spirit opens the ears and eyes, mind and heart of more people to recognise the Lord Jesus as Your promise of divine healing.
In Jesus’ own day when there was a remarkable physical healing, together with a man being told his sins were forgiven, he got up from his sick bed and walked away praising his healing. We should learn!
We must all come to believe in Jesus and praise Him as our Divine Saviour, echoing the past when “Everyone present was amazed and joined in the praise. They were all awestruck and said ‘We have seen astounding things today’.” (Luke 5 v 26 The Truth)
May we all become more attentive to the Holy Spirit, that we may all draw closer to the Lord Jesus, delighting to live in His truth. Let us pray to worship in the Spirit, by the truth of Jesus. How wonderful if we can say come Christmas, “May my lips proclaim Your praise, for You teach me Your will ... May I live only to praise You.” (Psalm 119 v 171,175 TNJB)
Now being Advent, this is a season for serious Christmas preparation. May the Spirit always help with this, developing well a Spirit of praise within us. Thank You for the Spirit of prayer and praise You gift us so lovingly.
“Alleluia! Praise God in His holy place, praise Him in the heavenly firmament of His power, praise Him for His mighty deeds, praise Him for all His greatness...Let everything that breathes praise the LORD, Alleluia!” (Psalm 150 v 1, 2, 6)
Thank You for calling us to pray. Thank You for causing us to pray because of the birth of the world’s Saviour, turning life into an exciting journey of faith’s discovery resulting in such a heavenly outcome as salvation being eternal.
The joy of Christmas awaits us, meaning the joy of heaven awaits us! “Let us know, let us pursue the knowledge of the LORD. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain...” (Hosea 6 v 3) refreshing us!
May the Holy Spirit enable us to keep our standards of holiness correctly, fully, intentionally, so as to know the very real difference the Lord Jesus’ friendship with us has made, even in the small everyday concerns. May we do the things we have to do, lovingly, prayerfully, guided and safeguarded by the Spirit.
Let our influence be holy in word, action and re-action, for we might just be inadvertently giving witness to the love of Christ Jesus. Let us live according to His example and fine teaching of the highest standards, by which we can offer back in prayer praise to You, Father God.
May prayer always grant us greater, clearer understanding of the necessity of full trust and dependence on the Holy Trinity, acting as if we are trusting, never doubting. Let questioning be dealt with by prayer, so trust develops even more powerfully.
May we release all fear, doubt, anxiety onto the Saviour of the world, who chooses to come and live amongst us to fully identify with and help the human lot. Only Jesus, by the Spirit, will show us the full fullness of Your love for us, Your mercy towards us, Father God.
Please keep us praying, to ever deepen our relationship with each member of the Trinity individually, and as one entity of full love and mercy. For this is what You desire of us and what is best for us.
Currently as the days move quickly towards Christmas, there is no better way to prepare for this wondrous mystery we will celebrate, than to pray. Come, Spirit of faith, be the prayer within us. Amen.
