“Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD! Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart.” (Psalm 119 v 1, 2)
And find our Father in You, Lord Jesus.
Lord, forever You are my and our
Friend, Brother, Lover, Saviour,
The Divine Healer sent by our Father.
What more could I ever
Want or need or discover?
Lord, You are life to me
In all the fullness of holiness,
My aim, my gain, my hope, love’s scope.
You are all that is necessary
For me to become holy.
Lord, You are my prayer,
My sin’s brokenness You repair
When to ask I dare,
Your life wanting to share.
Lord, You are my destiny,
The joy of heavenly company,
The confidence of sovereign authority,
My assured safety and security.
Lord, You are my worship daily,
For You accompany me continually.
You make me oh so happy,
Sharing in the peace which is heavenly.
Lord, You are the help for my fear and anxiety,
As I wrestle with life’s perplexity.
You carry my burdens lovingly,
Lightening the load which could be such a worry.
Lord, You are love’s harmony,
As You show us the life of the Trinity.
You invite us to unity,
That we learn to live in tranquillity.
Lord, I am most grateful that You care for us,
Our separation by sin put right at Your †.
Your victory over sin is satan’s loss
Be ever, ever, our forever Saviour, Lord, Christ Jesus.
“Jesus Christ is exactly like His Father, who remains invisible to us. He is God’s first born, with authority to rule over all creation because everything was created by Him...and for His purposes.” (Colossians 1 v 15, 16 The Truth)
“...only in Him is everything sustained. He is the Head of His body, the church, for He was the first to rise from the dead, so that having conquered everything that opposed God’s purposes He should now have supremacy over all things.” (Colossians 1 v 17, 18 The Truth)
I praise and thank You Lord Jesus, for You always accomplished the will of the Lord God from the heart. That meant You fulfilled His salvation plan for mankind.
Without You we would be lost to heaven, abandoned to our sinfulness. But such is the merciful love of our heavenly Father, He could not go along with this.
He allowed You, the Second Person of the Trinity, to be born to live an exemplary life for us, to then accept a † to become the perfect sacrifice for our sinfulness. How blessed we are!
You took on our saving rescue from satan, renewing Your sacrifice each and every day in the Holy Eucharist. How richly we are daily blessed. You gift Your body to nourish us spiritually and Your blood to redeem us.
Lord Jesus, what a sacramental grace it is to gift us Yourself in the Sacramental Mystery, coming to us as the living hope we can cling on to as You unite us to Yourself.
It is only by accepting You as our Saviour, the world can be consecrated to the will of our Father. Then Your kingdom on earth will flourish, making this a holier, happier, better place to be, than when we live by worldliness.
You are the One to lead us home and do so by gifting the Holy Spirit. He enables us to identify all our faults and weaknesses, and Your love strengthens us to want to overcome this.
You show us how, by living in You, through You, obedient to Your call to love and respect everybody, so as to love and honour our Father.
You enable us to become strengthened “With all the power of Your glorious might, and it is this power at work in us that gives us patience, enabling us to persist in doing God’s will, and causes us to maintain our joy, thanking God the Father for all He has done for us.” (based on Colossians 1 v 12 The Truth)
“Before we existed He made us, gave us life, gave us lifetime, gave us free will, gave us worldly goods, gave us talent, gave us reason, gave us knowledge, gave all His creation that it might become yours.” (Saint Quodvultdeus of Carthage, a Bishop who died about 450, writing entitled “Making Good on the Master’s Investment”. A meditation in MAGNIFICAT 15.11.20)
But in spite of this generosity of love we sinned. We have forfeited our right to a homeland in heaven where we would enjoy the company of the Trinity eternally. We have offended our Creator and this is serious.
“We were lost, He found us; we were taken captive, He helped us; we were being led to perpetual death, He freed us. How could He who handed Himself over to death for you present you with any less.” (The meditation cont.)
“Blessed be Jesus Christ, the God and the Man. Blessed the name of Jesus. Blessed be His most Sacred Heart. Blessed be His most Precious Blood. Blessed be Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the altar.” (The Divine Praises)
Lord Jesus, You are our living hope, for You died to save us from condemnation and eternal separation and You rose again to gift us salvation and joy forever. We must grasp the extent of what You did, it is profound.
“What Christ asks of you is what He says to you...Do not fear death, for although you are not able to conquer it, I have died that you might conquer death, not through yourself but through Me. In fact I died not for My sake, but for yours.” (The meditation cont.)
“Indeed, you have known that you will die, (but) you have not known that you will rise. I have shown you death which you have known about; I have shown you resurrection, which you had not known about. By believing, love the Risen One that through Him you may also rise.” (The meditation concluded)
Oh Lord, what You have done for me, for us, making all believers Your brothers and sisters, “Sons (daughters) of light and sons (daughters) of the day,” (1 Thessalonians 5 v 5) the eternal day of fulfilled happiness, of the highest joy.
It is because of You we can offer all thanks to our Father, for we are now qualified to share in the inheritance prepared for all those who have been called to believe in You. The Holy Spirit sets us apart to belong to Your Kingdom of Light.
How richly we are blessed to be rescued from satan’s dominion of darkness, being brought by the will of our Father and your resolve to do His will, into His rescue plan.
“ ‘I have brought You glory while I have been here on earth because I have completed the task You appointed Me to accomplish’.” (John 17 v 4 The Truth) What glory is arising!
Lord Jesus, You are life to us in all the power of holy love. “Christ in You, the hope of glory,” (Colossians 1 v 27) our hope of glory now and for all eternity. How I praise You! Amen.
