“…I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.” (Philippians 3 v 12)
I press on through devotion,
An emotion of the heart certainly,
But also a decision of the mind.
I find I am in continuous need of the Spirit,
The Spirit of holiness who filled and formed
The exemplary life of the Lord Jesus,
Is gifted to us for the purpose of holiness.
The Spirit enhances our devotion,
Showing us that intimacy with the Lord God Almighty,
Becomes ours through friendship with the Lord Jesus.
“ ‘No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you’.” (John 15 v 15)
The Spirit makes clear to us the meaning of the †.
He shows us how Jesus’ holiness is sacrificed
For the purpose of our redemption and rebirth,
A calling back when we lack sadly,
The requisite virtues for holiness.
Devoted to knowing the Lord Jesus,
Means understanding the fullness of the †.
The †of Jesus’ sacrifice is for our forgiveness.
Following Jesus requires us to look to the †.
True spiritual identity is us living in the Lord Jesus.
Because He lived, died and rose again for this purpose.
“This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners…” (1 Timothy 1 v 15)
His crucifixion was not a once only event
It is not consigned to the pages of history and forgotten.
No, marvellously this action is in today.
Each time the Mass is celebrated anywhere,
Across the widest expanse of the globe,
The healing help of our salvation is celebrated,
This is an ongoing conquest over all that is evil.
Our spiritual maturity requires of us
To partake of the body and blood of Jesus.
We are to be single minded in our efforts
To live with a developing likeness to the Lord Jesus.
“The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.” (Psalm 19 v 7)
What a blessing of healing help holy communion is.
We press towards the mark of knowing Jesus more fully,
Of living with Him, in the Spirit, possessing us.
This is precisely why Jesus acted as He did,
To rid us of self interest, aiming for holiness,
Devoting each day as it arises to serving lovingly.
We live to give of the One, who lives to give to us.
We partake of the Holy Eucharist celebrated sacramentally,
And we become a part of the mystical body of Christ Jesus.
He who, for us His family, looking up to heaven:
“He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying ‘This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me’.” (Luke 22 v 19)
“Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying ‘This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you’.” (Luke 22 v 20)
Come, Holy Spirit, please help me to maintain my focus in life which is devotion to the Lord Jesus, my worship, so as to delight and honour our Father in heaven. The life I lead must be counted as worthy of being called a Christian, One who belongs completely to the Saviour.
Help me please, to forget what lies behind me in the past, all the errors of my ways prior to meeting with the world’s Saviour and becoming blessed to be possessed of You, Holy Spirit, Lord.
Please remain with me to help me to reach out to what lies ahead, an eternity of joy and peace in the company of the blessed Trinity. “Blessed be God in His angels and in His saints.” (A Divine Praise) all of us who devote to living through the Lord Jesus.
“Blessed be the name of Jesus” (A Divine Praise) as Saviour, Lord, Master, the living and abiding Word of God. “Blessed be His most Sacred Heart” (Cont) pierced for us at the †.
“Blessed be His most Precious Blood.” (Cont) poured out upon the ground to gift us new life through forgiveness. “Blessed be Jesus in the most holy Sacrament of the altar,” (Cont) the Holy Eucharist, whereby new life is gifted us as at the † of forgiveness.
In partaking of this wondrous sacrament we are enabled to press on towards the goal of the upward call of Christ Jesus, gaining the prize our Father has planned for us when He calls us home to heaven, fully united with our Saviour Brother.
Holy Spirit of faith, please help my devotion to grow as I attempt to lead a life spiritually blessed by all the riches in glory of the Lord Jesus, sharing these as best I can.
All that I think, say and do should be offered for the intention and glory of the Sacred Heart of my Divine Healer as I seek to be united with His infinite merits, especially as offered during the Holy Eucharist.
I can never give thanks sufficiently that the Lord Jesus lived to die for me, the merciful love of the Lord God becoming very evident to me at the †of salvation. I am so grateful for this gift of sharing in Jesus’ holiness and want to try to do better day by day.
I ask for the grace to fulfil the life my Father has planned for me, accepting out of love for the Holy Trinity, all that happens in daily life, hoping by faith and prayer to be consecrated to the love of the Lord Jesus, my lifeline.
May whatever I do be for the glory of God. Holy Spirit, Lord, please make this possible by reminding me
what life is about. The Lord God has set a day when the entire world will be judged with justice by Jesus. Jesus has been raised from the dead as proof of this intention.
So I live in the living Lord, God’s Word of life, seeking to be in union with the Lord Jesus’ divine heart made ours to claim in the Sacrifice of the Mass, the highest, richest, fullest blessing upon earth.
Thank You for uniting us to the Lord Jesus in this miraculous way. How can anybody say miracles do not happen today when the reality of holy love, help and healing is made ours just as at the †, but currently in the Holy Eucharist.
We are told that our Father looks not at our appearance, but at the heart. Holy Spirit, Lord, please develop within all who believe the Lord Jesus as the promised Messiah and Saviour, a heart of love, for service given in the name of Jesus Christ, the King of Glory, mankind’s hope of a heavenly destiny.
I believe “My God will surely supply for all our needs, drawing on the glorious riches He has given us through our unity with Christ Jesus,” (based on Philippians 4 v 19 The Truth) making us partakers of His holiness and His co-workers.
“The Lord will guide us continually and will satisfy us with all good things” (based on Isaiah 58 v 11 TLB) according to our life shaped by You, Holy Spirit, Lord and sourced in the Lord Jesus. Prosperity is ours when we pray and persevere to become holy.
Thank You for the Holy Eucharist, one of the direct and definite ways in which the Lord God reaches out for us, to touch us by His love and mercy, for the Lord Jesus has redeemed us at the † of forgiveness.
We are “Kept by the power of God, through faith for salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time.” (1 Peter 1 v 15) Holy Spirit, Lord, You are that dynamic, life changing, love enhancing power, a force for real good, as and when we turn to Jesus as Saviour.
Jesus is our rejoicing, for He is the source and summit of our faith, that this “May be found to praise, honour and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 1 v 7) whom we are profoundly blessed to receive.
We are told nothing is life is for free. This is not true! Our salvation, although most dearly bought, is entirely free, the most gracious gift of the perfect life, of the Lord Jesus, given up for us on the †and re-presented to us in the blessed sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.
Holy Spirit, Lord and Sanctifier, the Life Giver through the Lord Jesus, according to our Father of mercy, working together as a Trinity, “You will show me the path of life,” (Psalm 16 v 11) through devotion to Jesus.
As the Man from heaven was devoted to our Father and lived being full of Your power Holy Spirit, Lord, may we God’s family, Jesus’ disciples of today, experience the fullness of joy we are promised.
Indeed we will, for holy promises never fail! Holy Trinity of love and mercy “At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16 v 11) I praise You, I thank You, and ever hope to adore You, for Your love and mercy mean so much to me. Again, I ask for family and friends to develop the hope, the peace and true joy that devotion gives us. Amen.
