“To those who repent, God permits return and He encourages those who have lost hope.”
Ecclesiasticus 17 v 24
He does this by means of Jesus.
Jesus in us, our repentance,
Brings strength out of weakness
By His Spirit’s efforts,
Being the very Spirit of encouragement.
The Spirit, just like Jesus,
Comes to love and cherish us.
The Spirit draws us into
A bond of love so precious
Nothing can separate this,
Except our own wilful straying,
Erring, disobeying carelessly.
Yet even then,
The Spirit of Jesus comes to us,
To release His healing peace
So as to gladden us.
What a truly loving presence!
We can in all confidence
Rely upon the Spirit of Jesus
As Mentor, Paraclete, Helper, Carer.
He even consoles us when we go astray,
And blatantly, stupidly, fail to obey.
The Spirit offers us a time,
Real time of loving blessings,
By Jesus in us,
Found favour of our Father,
Closest presence as ‘Emmanuel’.
God is with us, a fixed meaning,
No dreaming, no insecurity,
No more weakness to bind us.
The darkness driven out from before us,
Our triumph is made ready, steady,
At the †of Jesus,
Where consoling light shines,
Combines with the love of our Father,
Shaped as merciful forgiveness
Forged by the faith animating Spirit.
This Spirit of newness does so much for us,
In spite of our vulnerability.
In fact, He chooses to use this,
Taking it forward as His weapon
Whereby strength is, as Jesus promised,
Made perfect in weakness.
This healing love enfolds us,
Moulds us, shines out of and over us.
We are indeed renewed in spirit,
By all the loving blessings of Jesus,
Made ours to name and claim
According to the inspiring working
Of Jesus’ Spirit of holiness,
Our uplift to shift our perspective upwards,
Homewards, heavenwards, intentionally.
Jesus in us, with us, our salvation,
Our Saviour Brother ever at work with us.
Let us then, look to the Master
Praying, asking, achieving in His name,
As Redeemer Healer Restorer,
The Master Jesus our loving blessings.
For Jesus is the upward call of our Father,
Revealing as fact that God is with us
A Healer, awesome in power.
Our affirmation of faith
Has to be expressed in Jesus
Who died for us,
In accordance with the sacred Scriptures.
Jesus, although buried in a newly hewn rock tomb,
He was called to new life
On the third day of Easter,
The significant day of newness.
Jesus then appeared to His followers
To verify His very flesh and blood.
Living He had loved us.
Dying He had loved us.
Rising He still loves us.
He carried our sins for us
To justify our position of favour.
Jesus, our Beloved,
Bringing Himself to us,
Oh the glory of Jesus’ company,
A heavenly presence here amongst us
On earth, by His Spirit, so holy.
Jesus, our Lord for evermore.
Jesus, our Saviour as indeed in our need,
Death had no power to hold Him,
Neither could the grave keep Him bound.
The comfort of Jesus is God with us,
By the Spirit of living,
Giving us Himself, hope’s timing
Heart and mind’s yearning.
This is our new beginning.
In Jesus’ kingdom, broken lives are made new
Through and through and through.
Praise be for God’s glory.
If God is for us
As He evidently is in Jesus,
Who can be against us?
Nobody, not powerfully!
Jesus, the Father in Him,
By the loving blessings of the Spirit,
Jesus becomes for us, His brothers and sisters,
The Maker of all things
And the Giver of all spiritual life.
Let us then, offer all thanks for this.
“Come back to the Most High, turn away from iniquity and hold all that is foul in abhorrence.”
Ecclesiasticus 17 v 26 TNJB
“...only those with life and health can praise the Lord.”
Ecclesiasticus 17 v 28 TNJB
“Be Thou my vision
O Lord of my heart,
Be all else but naught to me,
Save that Thou art;
Be Thou my best thought,
In the day and the night,
Both waking and sleeping,
Thy presence my light.
Be Thou my wisdom,
Be Thou my true word,
Be Thou ever with me,
And I with Thee, Lord;
Be Thou my great Father,
And I Thy true son;
Be Thou in me dwelling,
And I with Thee one.
Be Thou my breastplate,
My sword for the fight;
Be Thou my whole armour,
Be Thou my true might;
Be Thou my soul’s shelter,
Be Thou my strong tower:
O raise Thou me heavenward,
Great power of my power.
Riches I need not,
Nor man’s empty praise:
Be Thou mine inheritance
Now and always;
Be Thou and Thou only
The first in my heart:
O Sovereign of heaven,
My treasure Thou art.
High King of heaven,
Thou heaven’s bright Sun,
O grant me its joys after victory is won;
Great Heart of my own heart,
Whatever befall,
Still be Thou my vision, O Ruler of all. Amen.”
