“ ‘A time is coming, in fact has already come, when those who worship in the power of His Spirit and in the truth of His Word, these are the kind of worshippers that the Father wants. God is Spirit. This is why those who worship Him must do so in Spirit and in truth’.” (John 4 v 23, 24 The Truth)
A life lived in the Spirit is joyous
Because the Holy Spirit introduces us to Jesus Christ, Then maintains, sustains an invaluable friendship.
The Holy Spirit lives within us,
Being always accessible by prayer.
The Spirit is our inspiration to seek silence to pray.
Also to obey the dictates of faith,
Commanding that we live obediently.
The Spirit, ever holy, animates our devotion.
The warm emotion we experience is delight in reverence. He is our reference point if doubting, worrying.
The Holy Spirit deals with our anxiety comfortably,
By directing our attention more closely to Jesus.
“Lord, help me to rediscover in Jesus, the living God in our midst and to radiate His love in our needy world. Amen.” (A “Bible Alive” prayer of 23.02.20 personalised)
With Christ Jesus as our Shepherd we lack nothing. Nothing requisite that is, for a life of holiness,
For the Holy Spirit works continuously upon this godly task.
He convinces us that nothing other than sinfulness
Can ever separate us from our Father’s incredible love,
That mercy He offers us at the †of Christ Jesus.
The Spirit reminds us of the significance of Jesus with us, Evident in studying the sacred Scriptures
In prayer of course, and in the rich resource of the Holy Eucharist.
It is the miraculous work of the Holy Spirit
Which actually changes the wafer of bread and chalice of wine,
Into the fine feast of the real presence of Jesus,
Here yet hidden by the change of substance.
“ ‘The living Father sent Me; that is why I am here on earth now. Anyone who feeds on Me because (s)he believes who I am, the Bread that has come from heaven, (s)he will have My life’.” (John 6 v 57 the Truth)
What godly purpose the Holy Spirit reveals to us.
He illuminates the reality of God being with us.
In the graced gift of His Son, the Lord Jesus, our Eucharist.
In the sacraments and prayer, we are richly blessed
By the actual presence of the Almighty Trinity.
What grace, what blessing is being conferred upon us
According to the godly working of the Spirit of faith, coming in the silence of prayer.
The closeness the Spirit develops for us is such a blessing.
The Holy Spirit specialises in graced blessings.
Guiding and safeguarding us, the Spirit takes away fret and anxiety.
He strives to make us holy by sharing Jesus’ holiness with us.
Jesus’ human perfection is our blessed connection to our Father in heaven,
The Lord God who longs for us to live through the Lord Jesus.
“Heartfelt thanks be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ – the Father who is full of compassion and the God who gives all comfort.” (2 Corinthians 1 v 3 WNT)
“Shout for joy, O heavens; rejoice, O earth; burst into song, O mountains! For the LORD comforts His people and will have compassion on His afflicted ones.” (Isaiah 40 v 13 NIV)
Dearest Father, You are the help and protection of Your people through the life and death of the Lord Jesus and the involvement in our daily life of the Holy Spirit, by whom You cleanse and sanctify us. We are deeply indebted to You.
“Everyone who has received the new birth that You give overcomes the spirit that influences the world around him (her). It is our faith in Jesus and what He has done that gives us victory over worldliness,” (1 John 5 v 4 The Truth) thank You.
To believe and trust in our Brother as Your Son has profound implications for our everyday life, the hope we experience, the peace we discover and the real joy day by day. The Holy Spirit is involved in developing this positive attitude.
For when we believed in the good news of salvation, all that the Lord Jesus accomplishes for us, the truth of why He lived, died and rose again, then the Holy Spirit continues to influence us.
The Lord Jesus earmarks us as His own by placing His own seal upon us, giving us His own promised Holy Spirit to live within us. We have been so blessed to receive the Spirit of praise.
“Why are you cast down O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me?” (Psalm 42 v 11) There is no reason at all. “Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God.” (Cont)
The Holy Spirit convinces us that we have been forgiven for our sinfulness, all thanks to the mercy of forgiveness, that favour the Lord God won for us at the †.
The light of holy love and the truth of Your rescue plan for man inspires us, dearest Father. It is the fact that the Holy Spirit makes us into the Lord Jesus’ works in progress which causes us to hope and respond with praise.
“It is good to give thanks to You, Father God, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; to declare Your loving kindness in the morning and Your faithfulness every night,” (Psalm 92 v 1, 2) for we must declare and share Your all loving faithfulness towards us.
May the Spirit of praise ever enable this as He deepens and strengthens our friendship with our Saviour. Because the Lord Jesus adopts us into His family, we gain the confidence to call You ‘Abba’, dearest Lord, thanking You for making Your love the foundation to life.
The Lord our Saviour is the cornerstone of our faith, the Spirit informs us. Thereby whilst living on earth in the service of the Master, delighting in this, we keep our gaze fixed firmly on heaven, our eternal wellbeing.
May the Holy Spirit of hope and promise ever guide our way on earth, His loving care shaping our daily decisions, actions and reactions in the way the Lord Jesus would approve of.
I ask that the Holy Spirit keeps us close to our Saviour Brother, that we live each day to persevere in our quest for holiness by becoming ever loving, however difficult this may be.
May all that we do be done through the Lord Jesus, our Redeemer, that inspired by His fine example, and strengthened in our resolve and efforts made to become holy, we will reach that perfection required for entry to heaven.
Thank You that the Spirt of love convinces us that holy love is so powerful and meaningful, positive and unfailing, nothing but sin will separate us from Jesus. The Holy Spirit convinces us of this.
All praise be now and eternally, for the gift of Your Spirit, Father God, sent us by the ascended and glorified Lord Jesus, in a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance.
You keep us as one family belonging to the Lord Jesus, which makes us as belonging to You, because we live within the power of redeeming love. Oh that we can live to the praise and glory of the Trinity.
Of all peoples, those who meet with Jesus, believe in Him, receiving Him as Saviour, then opening themselves up to the impact and influence of the Holy Spirit, we are most blessed.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of love, of faith, of prayer, of life, of good news, of hope, of peace, of joy, all because He belongs to You Father God, and comes to us through the marvel of Jesus’ life and death.
“You, O LORD, are a shield for us” (based on Psalm 3 v 3) for all who believe in Jesus and call upon His Spirit of holiness to influence us. You are our “Glory and the One who lifts up our head” (Cont) expectantly.
“Salvation belongs to You” (based on v 8) as a Trinity of love, of mercy, of forgiveness and “Your blessing is upon Your people”, (Cont) as You set apart for Yourself those who belong to the Saviour, becoming His good works in progress.
May we never ignore nor disregard the Holy Spirit in any way at all, for He is vital to our progress in holiness. We must remain conscious of His influence at all times, for it is for our benefit undoubtedly. This is Your mercy at work, Father God, as You long to make us one with You as a Trinity.
May the Holy Spirit ever enter our hearts and minds, our wills and consciences to awaken our sense of longing for holiness. He is the God who resides within us and I so thank You for this gift which enables us to make wise choices. Amen.
