“We have become those who share in His divine nature and escape from the corruption caused by desiring what the world desires.” (2 Peter 1 v 4 The Truth)
True God of true God,
Yet the Child of Mary!
A sign of God’s mercy
Born for our salvation,
Opening up heaven as a destination.
Here lies the power of holy love
To reconcile and re-unite,
Us with loved ones estranged,
And us, through Jesus, by the Holy Spirit,
With our Father of mercy.
Jesus means so much to us.
The Divine Healer, He will repeal our sinfulness.
As Saviour at the †, He gains our pardon.
As Teacher, by the Holy Spirit, He instructs us
In all holy wisdom and truth, so vital to our wellbeing.
“This was His (God’s) plan to rescue us from our enemies and so enable us to serve Him throughout our lives in holiness and righteousness, and without any need to be afraid.” (Luke 1 v 74, 75 The Truth)
He is a Preacher of gospel truth.
Jesus is the Good Shepherd tending His flock.
He does unlock the gateway or door to heaven
As long as we do not bar and bolt this.
As Redeemer, He renews and refreshes us.
His royal birth, from David’s line, His heritage is Kingly.
This King of glory involves us in His life’s story.
Begotten of the Father, Mary His mother, Joseph His foster father,
He grows in stature to recognise His Father’s will.
In reverent, obedient, loving service Jesus lives for us.
He toils tirelessly, labours incessantly to better the life of many.
He will do the same for any of us who call on His name,
Christ Jesus, the Prince of Peace and King of Glory.
Jesus offers us the priceless grace of becoming His follower.
“ ‘Look, the holy dwelling place of God is with men and He will remain among them. They will be His people and God Himself will be with them’.” (Revelation 21 v 3 The Truth)
“ ‘I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people’.” (Jeremiah 31 v 33)
Lord Jesus, holy life offered to us, thank You for giving us life’s perfect model of how to live, showing us how to revere our Father, reminding us to always call on the life giving Holy Spirit, helping us to work on holiness.
You are the faith filled Son who leads us home to heaven, helping us to rejoice in Your presence, sharing Your holiness so as to delight our Father in heaven when we become holy.
Thank You for the glorious liberty from sin which You accomplish for us, making our life an exciting journey of discovering God’s all loving, ever merciful, bountiful kindness. May we be holy.
Lord Jesus, we glimpse Your glory as we seek Your face and believe in Your love. By Your Spirit, please promote and protect family life. Make us godly, Lord, make us holy.
Forgive our secular and hedonistic tendencies. Lord Jesus, our Redeemer Saviour, restore us to holiness. Bless us with Your love, for it is the bond of perfection between heaven and earth. Help us to be holy as we make ready for heaven.
“Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, who walks in His ways.” (Psalm 128 v 1) May the Christmas blessings of hope, peace and joy which are realistic when holy love promotes this, live on. Lord, bless us by holiness.
Lord Jesus, You have come to earth. Let Your love be known amongst us, especially shown by those who believe in You. May no one feel abandoned, left out, unwanted, lonely. Let Your holy love comfort them, Lord.
What has happened at Christmas? Your peace can rule in our hearts and minds that we live by Your truth, Your wisdom, Your teaching, Your excellent example. Lord Jesus, You are our holiness, making us Your family.
“Therefore, because you are His dearly loved children, seek to believe God Your Father.” (Ephesians 5 v 1 The Truth) Protect us Lord, by Your Spirit of power that our mind is fixed on You. Lord, make us holy because we long for this.
May the Holy Spirit help us to rise above all our weaknesses, such apathy towards You often threatens to suck us in. May we be kept attentive at prayer, especially in the quest to become holy.
Let us trust You more in all Your mercy and goodness, help and kindness, that the hope we find in You will fire our perseverance in serving lovingly, whole-heartedly committed to You. May all that is holy be seen in the outworking of Your love for us.
“For You are all sons (daughters) of the light and of the day.” (1 Thessalonians 5 v 5 The Truth) As I consider this, the most glorious bright light of a winter’s day is streaming in upon me as if to silently say ‘Yes, you are bathed in the light of Christ Jesus!’ You are our holiness.
No longer do we belong to satan, “...to the spiritual night where all is darkness. So let us be alert and ready, and not like those who are asleep spiritually” (v 6) Lord Jesus, please keep sending us Your sanctifying Spirit, to aid our holiness.
“Because we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled in the way we live.” (v 7) Let us live according to Your will and teaching example. “Enlighten my understanding, strengthen my will, purify my heart and make me holy.” (From The Universal Prayer, Pope Clement XI)
Lord Jesus, You are perfectly holy in Your humanity. Please sanctify us by the Holy Spirit, that we can be consecrated in love, by mercy, to our Father in heaven. May our reverence be strengthened to be a good and holy witness.
I ask that Your Spirit supports and develops all the bonds of love and reverence through which we work to glorify You, trying to extend the reach of family love. Holy Lord, remain with us always.
Lord Jesus, Light of the world, in You we place our hope. Sustain please this hope and faith in all who struggle because of poverty or injustice or broken relationships. Be, Lord Jesus, ever our Divine Healer, a fine example of how to act and react in a way which is holy.
Often we are confused and bewildered, our life being darkened through self-seeking and self-serving habits which are faith deadening. I ask forgiveness for this and liberty according to Your †, where holy love and mercy reign supreme.
You are born to us as the revelation of love, the truth of our Father’s holy love and mercy to all people everywhere worldwide. Your Spirit is the refiner’s fire to burn away all sin.
Lord, You are the Word of life, God’s offer of a new life. You are our Creator and Re-Creator. Let all of us recognise You as the Prince of Peace and King of Glory, submitting to Your sovereign authority completely. As You are holy and we belong to You, may the Spirit develop our efforts to become holy.
Watch over us and care for us carefully, as Mary and Joseph cared for Your welfare. In times of trial, temptation, difficulty, distress, dismay, may the Holy Spirit keep us watchful in hope and prayerful in spirit, knowing holiness is the highest blessing offered us. Holy Brother, ever remind us of this.
As we come from You and live in You, Lord Jesus, may we be so closely united by love that we can always act together, because we have learned to be humble, obedient and reverent, just as You are. Lord Jesus, gentle in heart, smooth away our rough edges by the kindness of Your holiness.
You are our beacon of hope, yet our certainty of heaven awaiting us. You are our anchor of trust and the signpost pointing homewards. As the light of Your holy love shines upon us, may we, by Your Spirit, reflect this as best we can. We can become holy because Yours is the influence.
To exist in You to the full, according to the impact of the Holy Spirit, is to live life in the joy of the holy purpose You ask of us. May this ever be for the glory of the Trinity as many come to faith.
Lord Jesus, You are our gain of hope, peace, joy, wisdom, truth, love and grace. How richly we are blessed, thank You. May we continue to seek to share in Your holiness throughout the Christmas season and beyond, not failing You.
Let us feel Your hand upon our life, hear Your voice calling, especially when we are in darkened surroundings. The greatest drama in life is seeking and finding You in the many roles You undertake. May Your Spirit make us willing pupils, eager to develop a holy life of love.
Your love is more solid than the air we breathe to have life, or the ground we walk upon, to keep upright. Lord, You are everything to us, the fulfilment of our Father’s promise to provide for us and protect us.
“The Lord Himself will go before you. He will be with you. He will not leave you nor forget you. Don’t be afraid and don’t worry.” (Deuteronomy 32 v 8 NIV) Oh the manifold blessings of Christmas have come upon us, thank You!
All will be well because the Lord God, our blessed Father is in heaven where You too, have returned to take up Your throne of glory, Your royal authority overruling all that is evil.
Yet You remain with us upon earth by Your Holy Spirit, the Paraclete, the Counsellor, the Law Giver, the Perfector as He advises, supports and helps us to grow in holiness.
We admire, adore and bow down before You as a Trinity of love, of mercy, our hope of a better, brighter, holier future, our Encourager, life’s enrichment through development of all that is holy.
“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected, but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which You, Lord Jesus, the Christ, has also laid hold of me.” (based on Philippians 3 v 12)
“Remember me, O LORD, with the favour You have toward Your people,” (Psalm 106) that joy in forgiveness, that hope of an eternal future in heaven. Remember please, all believers amongst my family and friends, and those who do not yet know You, nor want to follow You.
“Oh visit us with Your salvation,” (Cont, changing the invocation to plural) that I may see the benefit of Your chosen ones, that I may rejoice in the gladness of Your nation. “God’s favour not now confined to Israel, that we may glory with Your inheritance.” (v 5)
“Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among those who were not formerly included in the inheritance You promised Israel,” (Cont) gather us please this Christmas “To give thanks to Your holy name” (v 47) as made known to us by the Lord Jesus.
His love is the triumph we must praise for it arises directly out of Your compassion and mercy felt towards us, such a gracious blessing, thank You. We rejoice to also be in receipt of the faith building, belief developing Holy Spirit.
“Blessed be the Lord God of Israel” (Psalm 106 v 48) by us living in the Lord Jesus, according to the industrious Spirit ever working miracles through faith, even to the age of miracles not being dead.
On Christmas Day I suddenly noticed the first daffodil poking its head through solid, frosty ground. This is a miracle and I rejoice in the hope of spring.
The Lord Jesus is the spring time of our faith, which flourishes by the Spirit, into the blazing delight of summer’s warmth. Dearest Father, our Protector, Provider, Deliverer, may You be blessed forever.
We have been made Your family in the life of love You so lovingly gift to us through Jesus, by the Holy Spirit, and we experience the true joy of Christmas, a Saviour born to us.
He will be with us as Lord, Saviour, Redeemer, Friend, Brother, Master and Shepherd, enabling us by the Holy Spirit, “From everlasting to everlasting” (v 48) to delight in You, living to please and honour Your in response to all Your loving kindnesses towards us.
May the world become holy as our Saviour Brother is holy. “And let all the people say ‘Amen’ to this and to offering You sincere praise by a life well lived according to the impact of the Holy Spirit, He who will always help, prompt and encourage us to declare from a heart softened by Jesus’ love for us ‘Praise the LORD’.” (Concluded)
Truly we praise You, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, in all rejoicing, with warmest thanksgiving, hope taking us forwards in faith, prayer by prayer, as our friendship with Jesus is strengthened, widened and deepened by the Holy Spirit.
All glory, thanks and adoration ever, ever be, to the glorious Trinity, as we strive to become holy, the Lord Jesus ever with us, in and amongst us. What joy and happiness! Amen.
